It remind me more of Westworld, and how there were different themed parks like Western World, Roman World, and Medieval World. It seems like Johns is doing that and using the post-apocalyptic setting to do post-apocalyptic Batman fighting a bunch of gangs that themed themselves after the casinos they took over. Post-apocalyptic fiction isn’t exactly new to weird themed groups, you just don’t usually get so many all together all at once. Main gangs seem to be: - Game of Thrones (timely) - The Great Gatsby (probably Eyes Wide Shut too) - Romes (Maybe they have a Maxie Zeus like character. If Jupiter maybe combined with Jupiter from The Hills Have Eyes) - African Safari (Quatermain? Indiana Jones? That one dentist? Tiger King?) - Sci-fi (maybe anime) - Pirates (probably Pirates of the Caribbean) - James Bond Looks like there’s some lesser ones that’d have cowboys, samurai, clowns, frontiersmen, leprechauns, caveman, (maybe also people in dinosaur suits) and a few others as well.

I was pretty disappointed honestly. I’m glad you liked it that’s awesome. Maybe it’ll get better for me and I’ll still pick up the following issues. The power up was really cool and I did enjoy the line art quite a bit. A lot of people don’t seem to like the art. The coloring reminds me of those free or cheap comics we’d get when digital color was new and I think that turns people off. To each his own.

He said there are a lot of people who can do comics and a very few who can come up with a totally original concept and even FEWER who can do so repeatedly and effortlessly like Jack Kirby. For some reason I still remember the Ebert review where he gave Kickass a bad rating because it was too violent. And for the 3rd Predator movie all he talked about is the planet they landed on wasn't realistically tidally locked and had animal with too many teeth/tusks on its head and thus was an inaccurate design from an evolution perspective.

I think a lot of creators could learn from ROBOCOP. The way that movie injects the world through small vignettes like, "I'd buy that for a dollar!" was superlative. The lore never gets in the way of the plot or the action, and yet by the end of the movie we feel like we know the world nonetheless. Creators need to stop with the expansive exposition.

Looking at the way it’s written, it seems like it should look very cartoony but be crazy over-the-top ultraviolent. Like if this looked like Dick Sprang Batman or something, and you had the juxtaposition of that style with lines like “A sign huh? And what would it say “KEEP OUT OR YOU LOSE YOUR TEETH?”” against him kicking a guy in the face and it exploding in blood (could even have a closeup of his messed up face missing all his front teeth) that might at least be funny. The art isn’t bad, but this seems like it’d be way more interesting and fitting if like a Bruce Timm or someone was doing it.

I really liked the first issue funnily enough. Hope it doesn't fizzle out like Nocterra is. I really like the protagonist as his origin definitely displays some great heroic qualities. The art is pretty good. Could definitely see it getting stale pretty quick though. Nocterra had a great premise and world for the first issue, but reading the second issue was a slog as Snyder did very little additional worldbuilding and the characters are incredibly uncompelling. I'd hate to see Geiger go in the same direction of packing everything good into the first issue and killing the momentum immediately.

But with this whole cutesy thing you keep talking about I really don't know what you want from the comic. Yeah Vegas is ruled by families themed around the places they inhabit. Who would have guessed people living in a pirate casino would find pirate clothes to wear right. Yeah it's not very gritty but fuck what do you want from it this is a story about society a few years after the bombs hit not right after. Giger would be a much shorter run of comics I think if it were based on nothing more than the people cooked to a crisp on the asphalt begging to die or people curled Into balls on the streets dying of radiation poisoning.
