Good episode, nice conversation, great guy. But Asmus should re-read his history books. People of Norway and other european countries were not necessarily «down and dandy» with the nazis, they were occupied by a superior military might. In fact, Norway had one of the war’s most successful resistance movements!

Norway did! every country had resistance movements. But they weren't all quite as popular as we like to imagine they were. Most of the French willingly sided with the Vichy regime for instance.

Hirohito remained emperor, and his clan remains the ruling monarchs. Japan uses the British system. We allowed the officials and Imperial persons (royalty) to mostly survive the war because the US needed to counter the USSR more than anything else. Japan never got its Nuremberg, and to this day refuses to apologize for the grape of Nanking or its war crimes. They gov't schools teach victim mentality. :D

It literally seems like 100s of specials in the last few months and I haven't found more than 5 that are funny and some of those it seemed like could have been better or needed some more time to sharpen up. I'm just a fan so my opinion is obviously not important but it is making me weary of youtube specials. If they are good though I will pay for it.

My wife's dad was in the Vietnam war and she did 23andme and she has 1% Vietnamese even though she is 99% European and we think it is from Agent Orange poisoning that was passed down and since they all have it and so does she it shows up as she is also Vietnamese. No studies have been done yet but that would be a great study.

@@GeoffreyAsmus the US wasnt about to invade Japan as you said, implying that the surprise attack was justified. The US saw Japan's ambitions towards taking control of the Philippines and malaysia in cahoots with the nazis as a serious threat so they cut off the supplies we had previously been providing for them. Because of that is why the japanese planned the attack. It wasnt so much an attack on the US as it was as a side effect of their goal to take control of the pacific colonies. The US never had any documented intention of attacking Japan. I dont know where you pulled that idea from
