The 'Art' of Keeping Your Youth Academy Realistic

Just like most people, my favourite part of career mode is finding a superstar. The problem is, FIFA 23 makes it too easy to pump out a team of Messi’s. There are a few ways to keep things under control, some obvious others maybe a bit more hidden. It really is an art to keep this part of Career Mode balanced.
Maybe you prefer producing players like Scott McTominay instead of an endless conveyor belt of Pedro's, today I thought i’d share some tips for keeping your FIFA Youth Academy realistic!

When I did my Bald Only Challenge, only a few Youth Academy players were available. This limitation was enough to keep it grounded.

The biggest problem with keeping the youth academy realistic is dynamic potential. Its quite easy to just sign youth players that align with the level of the league that you are in, but with dynamic potential it is almost impossible to prevent them from becoming the next Pele especially if you enjoy playing with them. I did a save where I used only 1 star scouts and only signed players with under 70 potential, but by the end of the 11 seasons my team was at all 90s. This was in Fifa 20 as well before Development Plans could accelerate growth at a crazy level. Its almost impossible to play in any non-top 5 league without becoming the best team in the league after season 3.

If your managing some 3 or less stars team, adding some rules like selling every 85 or above OVR player should keep things interesting. Im managing Cambuur RC in Netherlands and only hiring players from outside Europe or Youth Academy, and selling every 85 overall player. After 11 season, still got plenity of challange and still didnt got any CL, just a Europa League and some CL Semifinals. If a player from Cambuur recieves a offer from Real Madrid or Bayern, it doesnt make sense keep him...

If your in a small league you’d sell your players in real life…also just lower the scout level or don’t sign high rated youngsters…not hard

@hiagovieira7274 I guess my point is that I shouldn't have to sell 25% of my squad every season to make a small league fun. I understand selling 1 or 2 wonderkids every few seasons, but my whole team would get to 85 so quickly that I'd be needing to have a whole squad turnover way too often. If I sign a player with 75 potential I'd want them to stay at the club for a long time, but with DP their potential will be 90+ within 4 to 5 seasons.

como es que logran arruinar una carrera tan rapido?. yo suelo usar canteranos y en la ultima que hice en este fifa, desde cuarta division inglesa a primera, ningun jugador paso de los 80 de media. Yo no uso entrenamientos, tengo desactivada la opcion que te pide entrenar en el calendario.

I've started a RTG hiring one recruiter with 2 stars, and to hire someone better or a 2nd recruiter I sell my players. Each $100M it's a star that I get. So basically to hire a 10 stars I have to get $1B selling my best players

I use the youth academy a lot in fifa, but in most of my career modes, I only have one player that I consistently use. It was a Mexican CB by the name of Julian Villanueva, who was basically the strongest player, to a degree, on my club.

I'm also thinking about just getting 1 scout, with 3 stars and send them out for 3 months and you have to get all the players they comeback with.

What tactics do you use for career modes? I feel like I have teams that would work well on paper but I can never make custom tactics that work in simulation.

Another way I tried. Only send scouts that speak the language of the country they’re going to Ex: a scout from Spain speaks Spanish so only send that scout to countries where Spanish is the first language like Mexico

It's not related to the academies but if you do a financial takeover don't buy all world class players at once if your not a team in the UCL

Basically I have a rule is that I can promote and use them (to gain attention from bigger clubs) then as soon as an offer comes in from a team in at least 2 leagues higher (if possible for that country but if not basically that countries top league) I accept the offer straight away no negotiating price. And with the money i just keep realistic prices and signings so a lot of the money doesn't even get spent. I do allow 2 free agents max per season, but the rating I can sign depends on what league I'm in and also position of the club in the league and occasionally other competitions. Maybe someone will like my idea.

I just always go for realistic countries and choose any for the search requirement and i always keep development plans on balanced and that keeps my club realistic

In my opinion, the thing you are missing from the video is that i WANT to use 16 years old in career mode because it is the way that I want to manage my team. I should not have to wait until my players are 18 years old because the game can't generate bad overalls
