The history of Pepsi in Russia is actually quite interesting - in 89, $3B worth of Pepsi was traded to the Soviet Union in exchange for warships. In fact, Pepsi is still a part of the cultural psyche for people who grew up then, so much so that Pelevin (a popular Russian author) entitled one of his novels "Поколение P"/Generation P (P for Pepsi). Long story short, there is Pepsi (and Nike and Adidas) in Russia :)

If you're in a place that looks russian but it's got a lot of Dacias around, it's a pretty fat chance that you're in Romania (They are also used in most cities by the taxi companies, keep an eye on that too)

Pro-tip: If you see vertical text that isn't Chinese and looks cursivey, you're most likely looking at Mongolian. Also Asia with Cyrillic writing is most like Mongolia as well. I really love scripts so I use it for my advantage in GeoGuessr. Also Ulannbaatar has nearly 50% of Mongolia's population so it's no surprise it's big af.

Binge watching the series and finally the first one I would have gotten faster - Ulaanbaatar. The obvious clues it's not Russia... the Chinese style script on one building... the pagodas... but hey, both happen in the Russian far east, so the one thing that obviously screams NOT Russia? The weird almost square license plates on ALL cars. I know Russia and Europe have some square variants for imported cars etc where regular don't fit, but these are on all cars, and on the front, so no chance it's any Russian city.
