Finding little chips of olivine while climbing a volcano and trying to identify them when I got home is what got me into gemology. They'll always be one of my favourite stones

The only reason I knew this is because I looked it up after the episode where the cluster emerges and peridot says “lava is what comes out of volcanoes, that’s super heated peridotite. That’s the same stuff peridots are made of”

Man, I'd love to go hunt rocks with you. Worked in the geotech industry for a bit, had the Magic School Bus geology game as a kid but you've taught me way more about geodes, rocks, etc than all that combined

I do enjoy your content in general but I really liked this one because I find geology interesting but I haven't prioritized reading about it. Would love a longer video with more geologic explanations for how various interesting deposits form and gets exposed at the surface or any process explanation videos really. It is neither a request nor criticism, just sharing my two cents. Keep up the good work!

Also, love your backdrop Everything burnt at my two life long camp spots. Now, this year, it's even earlier. I can see the smoke billowing up from Yosemite and floating big clouds of smoke over Mariposa. So, it's good to see green, healthy trees.

We also get nice olivine forming in high temperature metamorphic rocks, here in Australia in the older cratons particularly with the ultramafics if it still looks metamorphosed but there is olivine and no serpentinite etc you know it got pretty hot again.
