I was looking for some alternate sources for my physics class, and I came across these videos. Dr Anderson, you were one of the best teachers I have ever had. I remember failing your class, and I felt so incredibly bad about it. It probably (hopefully not) happens a lot, and I'm sure it wasn't a big deal to you, but it was a big deal to me. I felt like I personally let you down, and had trouble looking you in the eye after that. You seemed very understanding, though. I took your class again, tried very hard, and finally passed! I want to say that it was your class, that after 14-16 years of schooling, that finally taught me the value of studying and homework. On a side note, I am a physics teacher in high school now, and your class and teaching style are definitely one of my biggest inspirations and influences. I probably spend far too much time on E&M, but it's now one of my favorite topics. Thank you for all of your dedication and hard work!

Why does image is formed on water surface as there is no metal surface present there? What is the mechanism behind that ??
@yoprofmatt5 жыл бұрын
I assume your question is why does light reflect off of water even though it's not metal? Here's an answer for you: Light reflects from all interfaces, the only question is how much. Metal is the best because the electrons are basically free to move, so they respond to the electric field in the incoming light and re-radiate it. In water, it's the polarization of the water itself that leads to the reflection. This polarization is still due to charge, of course. There are still electrons and they can still move a bit in response to the incoming light, they just can't move as far or as efficiently. Hope that helps. Cheers, Dr. A

Hey sir, Anderson. I have a question for you if Light travels horizontally (0 degree) to the center of the concave or convex mirrors how are they gonna behave? thanks
@nihilisticboi35205 жыл бұрын
The light ray reflects back overlapping the incident ray. The reason is that the light ray passed through the centre of curvature so it must reflect back in that same direction. Another (possible) reason is that when the light ray hits the centre of either concave or convex mirror, the hitting point is similar to that of a plane mirror, so it reflects back in the opposite direction.
