Through works by renowned architects such as Antoni Gaudí, Felix Candela and Oscar Niemeyer, this film intends to show the natural way in which the formulas, the geometry of forms and their concretization are intertwined.

"Mathematics is not an abstraction disconnected from reality, but a vehicle of the project..." The creative design needs shape and rule, it needs a language that can provide its representation, calculation and execution. It needs GEOMETRY and EQUATION..."

I simply adore when math comes alive. Geometry of light. Maybe more curve lines. "Bubbles".

Muito interessante saber sobre as fórmas geométricas que cada arquitéto se inspirou,cada um com um estilo diferente e projétos bem elaborados Esse software realmente é muito interessante na elaboração dos projétos em suas fórmas

at 2:08-2:10ish, the narrator assigns parabolic curves with the curves of suspension bridges. This is incorrect. When a rope/cable is suspended from two points set at a distance that is less than the length of the rope/cable, gravity acts on the rope/cable, forming a curve that is in the family of functions called a catenary. It is not a quadratic polynomial (which gives us the parabolas), but rather it is a hyperbolic trig function.

The shape a cable forms in a suspension bridge is a catenary not a parabola. There is a difference.

How do you create that aquarel effect with outlines on a paper textured background for photos 8:15? It looks awesome. I would love to have a tutorial for that.

suspended bridge cable aren't parabola, they are hyperbolic cosinus ! It may look like a parabola but they are totally different curve
@mariananapoles87644 жыл бұрын
When the structure is being built and the main cables are attached to the towers, the curve is a catenary (hyperbolic cosinus). But when the cables are attached to the deck with hangers, it is no longer a catenary. The curve of the cables become the curve of a parabola. Unlike the catenary, which is curving under its own weight, the parabola is curving not just under its own weight, but also curving from holding up the weight of the deck. The cable of a suspension bridge is under tension from holding up the bridge. Therefore, the cables of a suspension bridge is a parabola, because the weight of the deck is equally distributed on the curve.
