I love it!!! Geophagus are so cool if evolution gave them deeper colors they would be stunning, but they're still gorgeous & nice shape. Geophagus are like the Frontosa of Americas.

My aquarium mixed these guys up with Tapajós geophagous. I bought 3, 2 were males and 1 was female. Males were at each other and they outgrew my tank. They were outstanding fish, great colours, just not what I wanted. A melancholic accident...

you think the geo would go good with schooling fish such as tiger barbs or roseline sharks?
@dwsdarius
@dwsdarius 8 жыл бұрын
Yes, they definitely can't eat a adult barb (they can eat tiny babies); and they really shouldn't direct to much aggression towards them, of course when breeding they will show some aggression, but these fish don't pair off like others so that's a big advantage....pairing males and females become ruthless!

@@dwsdarius yeah they’re tough. I have a couple of tanks and right now I only have one that’s central American. My red tiger Moto just had fry! If you’re near Florida you’re welcome to come get some! Other than those guys I stick strictly to severums, acara and geos. Ca’s are just too mean 😑

Sounds like an awesome stock! When the male gets the female holding (they are mouth brooders), it may be best to remove the female into a separate tank. The males can be pretty rough on them, my male killed the female in this video, but luckily I saved her fry and now I have a new colony!

We have 1 male geophagus (red hump) I love this guy. He's currently with 2 severums 2 chocolates 2 Oscars (all juveniles except red hump) and they all get along great. Tried to add another type of geophagus (Geophagus Altifron) and he wasn't nice at all lol. Had to take him back. But LOVE my red hump Humphrey lol

Sounds look a cool setup if you don't have to worry about too much aggression; plus I can imagine one of these destroying another Geophagus, with these its either solo or a group!

DWSDARIUS FISH TANKS yeah. My red hump was fine the other not lol. No aggression as of now with our setup but like I said they are all 1-2 inch juveniles except red hump and severums are 4 inches. No problem so far but have other tank available if that happens. Thanks for your very knowledgeable advice. Keep up the great videos!

Elephant nose, I've always wanted one of them but I can't find any...any difficulties with feeding it? I've also ordered from imperial tropical and I'm always pleased with what they send me! As far as thatfishplace, I've made 4 orders in total, about 25 fish and a few coral; for a store that does all animals they have a really nice selection of fish, especially cichlids. They charge $35 for overnight shipping and while contact you before shipping to confirm your order via phone or email. All of the freshwater fish that I've order from them arrived in good shape...tiny, but alive! I've had one issue with one order where I hade a DOA (dead on arrival) saltwater fish with a dead coral, but when I provided pictures I was issued a refund

alright dws,I've been thinking about setting up a blackwater biotope type 40b for a few angels and Bolivian rams. I have a juvenile pair of red stripe geos.... do you think there would be any problems with those personalities together(all would be juveniles). I agree with you they are pretty amazing. great vid✌🍻👍🐠
@dwsdarius
@dwsdarius 8 жыл бұрын
Thank You, tank sounds like it would be awesome! If I'm not mistaken the red stripes are Surinamen Geophagus; as juveniles it would work but a pair could possibly kill the tank mates as they grow and breed, they mouth brood too (both male and female) and when my tiny red hump was holding she wasn't afraid of attacking anyone , those red stripes can reach 1ft so the damage could be worse. I keep a single geophagus altifrons (similar to red stripes) and he's very chill, hangs out with my marble angle like they are a pair...but I think a mated pair would be destruction as they start to breed
