PRC = People's Republic of China: The current Chinese regime. RCEP = Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership: A proposed free-trade agreement among 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. OBOR = One Belt One Road Initiative: China's initiative to increase trade across Eurasia through a series of infrastructure projects.

PRC China is running the show in Asia now with RCEP & OBOR, without the United State's participation in the TPP to balance it. Asian Countries and groupings like ASEAN are exposed to PRC China's economic coercion as we have seen, to align themselves to it's hegemonic agenda. I foresee that this is the start of the end for the United States in the Asia Pacific region.

Not neccessarliy. Although you are right, it makes ASEAN consider the RCEP more seriously - but still there are great hurdles. If nothing else, China is still exceedingly unpopular in the region. Domestically, there is a enourmous political resistence for ASEAN nations to acquiesce to closer trade ties with China than they already have

The US experience in the Philippines was nothing like Iraq. For many reasons it was much more positive, as was shown during the Second World War.

Maybe the US had a “moral responsibility “ to lead after WWII , but we did it primarily to beat the Soviet Union.

Can you elaborate? I thought Kaplan's presentation was quite impressive. Although it doesn't delve into Energy Policy which is fairly critical about what is driving Russian foreign policy. But otherwise, its pretty good as a general overview.
