After basically mastering Famous Places, it's so weird seeing streamers, even Rainbolt struggling to guess a location because there are like 200 or 300 monuments and famous places from different angles et.c. and if you play for a whole fricking quarantine like I did, it's like Rainbolt's country guessing. That's nice! Just my two cents though, if you spend your time on better things (not preaching haha), you'd get that kind of achievement where it matters! I love gaming, but I left it for 2 years or so, developed my programming skills, and now I have a decently high-paying job. So, just saying, you know spending time on something is going to make you better in it. So why not do it on something more productive?

@@jashanarora17 Very weird comment. A dude on a video about geoguessr says hes played geoguessr and you tell him to do something more productive. You are literally here watching this video are you not? Also it was his entertainment through quarantine. Did you do nothing but program for 2 years or did you do stuff you enjoyed as well? If your answer is that you only focused on programming for 2 years then honestly I pity you. If your goal was to become a programmer and get a high paying job and you accomplished that then congrats but that doesnt mean that this person also has that same goal. Didn't expect this to be so supportive and informative either. You're right on point about the feeling of playing for the first time, and revisiting that feeling by watching someone else play for the first time. Exploring the locations you never knew existed, trusting your intuition, feeling stupid for not knowing flags, knowing a country exists but not where it is on the map, and the happiness when you get it right even though you're not sure? Yeah, knowing meta and being able to guess a location immediately is very cool and satisfying, but it's also fun to investigate a bit for clues and feel the vibe of the place. You just made me want to go play geoguessr again, even though I'm a noob too!

hot take, I really like trekkers, It makes the game 10x harder and its kind of like a random boss battle encounter. Spices things up, but I can see why it can be unfair to new players and also why professionals dont like it too. It can sometimes have almost no clues, but I think it starts sparking that thing in your head where you start trying to piece the smallest of things together and even if you're wrong, its really fun to just sit and try instead of getting given the answer immediately from road signs or whatever.

Tim's guessing process about Russia was so fun to watch, and his logic was incredible, even though unintended. I laughed when he thought about it being France, cause the city of Saint Petersburg was actually build by Peter the Great, who was very influenced by French culture, during his reign French language became pretty common in noble society in Russia. The building itself (Winter Palace, the blue one), though, was built by Catherine II, the architect was Italian, but still, it's giving French vibes a lot :)

In Quebec, we use "arrête" instead of "Stop" because of law 101 that requires everything to be first in french (then english if two options are available) to try to prevent the loss of french in Quebec although it's unsuccessful in my opinion. I'm not sure but I believe we might've used "Stop" at one point in time and changed it because of that "fear" of losing the Quebec french and the culture associated with it. As a french Canadian myself, I don't really think it's threatened, but we all have different views on it. Quebec even tried to become its own country to prevent the loss of french, it ended up being approximately 51% against the referendum which is pretty interesting.
@PhilGerb93 Жыл бұрын
If you think it's not being threatened then you need to go look at some stats to inform yourself on the decline. Also, a good chunk of Montreal already doesn't speak french so yeah.
