George Beamish kicks his way to sub-8:10 and a new Oceania record in the #ParisDL steeplechase, clocking a 8:09.64 for 5th overall. It’s something of a breakthrough for Beamish, who’d run 8:13-14 four times before this race and is only in his second year contesting the event.

If Geordie was back in high school he’d be voted most likable. What a freakin talent. Who would have thought, a few years ago, running College XC and later a NCAA Indoor Champion & more recently World Indoor Champion. How the heck did he become one of the top Steeplechasers on the planet. In a tactical race, never count out this man. Could shock the track world in Paris(again). Feel better. Oh, by the way. Geordie says on coffee club he hasn’t felt good since having the flu and his training isn’t great… then directly runs a national/oceania record! Haha Amazing!

Beamish is giving voice to that annoying part of being an athlete. Carrying knocks and strains from injuries that are still healing or at fatigue levels. Way to embrace the suck and still do what you love, Geordie!!!🎉
