Hi Mark, well after watching this and having some Christmas money still to spend, I decided to buy the Seachem products. My planted tank is going quite well but after a year of slow growth and with some decay / melting, the plants have never been great. So hopefully this will be the solution instead of my all in one fert 🙂🤞

Great video, very informative. I'd love to see you make a pair of identical scapes and dose one as normal and not the other to show the difference dosing can make - or not.

Hi Jason, yeah I dose exactly the same with low energy. I'll have to be honest I'm not the best to advise on hard water as I've never had to deal with it. I would suggest contacting Seachem customer service, see what they suggest. www.seachem.com/contact-support.php

With all these products used in a planted aquarium, are they safe for the fish and for, in my case, a fly river turtle? I want to make sure that I have a lush green aquarium growing within my fresh water aquarium with my turtle in it.

Thank you for your easy way to explain your fert routine! So you never dose phosphorus? Because, when I stop dosing phosphorus my plants especially the epiphytes got green spot algae

Thank you, that's just my routine. Phosphates are still required in setups. The usual culprit for my epiphytes, particularly anubias getting green spot algae us too much light, I prefer to shade them under plants like ferns.

Hey Ashley, thank you. Best to add Advance daily for 2 weeks when lights are on. Plants can uptake supplements when they're more active when the lights are on.

Good video, with your fert plan do you put in immediately after you fill the tank up after a water change. Was curious maybe if prime would maybe interfere with flourish etc. Not scientists but in your experience what do you do?

Thankyou. I add my ferts after water change if lights are staying on, I add ferts when lights are on, as that's when plants can utilise the ferts best.

BBA can be caused by varying issues, it tends to be high flow areas if/when I get it. Iron is pretty much essential for healthy plant growth. I would dose as and when the bottle instructions recommend as they've been well tested over the years. Hope this helps.

The CO2 was running a little higher than normal to speed up growth as there was no livestock in at the time. CO2 was reduced to ensure the drop checker was showing lime green/green before adding livestock👍

I would recommend using a syringe to get the dosing right. Stick to the bottle instructions recommendations and your nano fish will be fine👍👍

I only use Flourish Advance for the first 14 days, I then stop and go on to the Trace, Potassium etc. I forgot to say in the video that I also use Advance after a big trim for a few days to encourage new growth.

Hello Geordie! Do love your no nonsense take on aqua scaping and your tanks look fab. Quick question: I see you don’t use Flourish and instead use Trace, is there a reason for this? I’m currently using the full range (expect Po4) and I’m getting a black deposits on plant leaves and stones, it’s not an hair algae/BBA and definitely deposit like. I’m thinking it’s a build up of micros and Seachem dosing schedule has me dosing Flourish twice a week, do you reckon this could be the culprit? As I’m only getting it since (2 months) using the plan? Tia and looking forward to more videos! Kind regards Matt

Hi Matt and thankyou. Really hard to say without more info on your tank. Filtration, lighting levels and duration, water changes, CO2 etc. I prefer to use Just the Trace instead of Flourish in my routine. As I can add any other additives (which Flourish contains) as and when if needed.

Cheers Mark. 125 littles, co2 injection with 1 point drop before lights on/light green drop checker, lights 8 hours on, Oase 650, good flow with additional pump, 50% water change every week. Good upkeep of tank

No harm in adding advance again if you choose to. I do this when adding new plants. I tend to add new plants after a trim of the older ones and use Advance anyways for a week or so👍

How should I use seachem flourish in a 6.5 gallon tank? I don't know how?

Hi Kasie, around 30 litres, I used to dose half a millilitre (0.5ml) alternate days with a 50% weekly water change. A small syringe is ideal. Good thing with this your Flourish will last a very long time👍Terumo 1ml Disposable Medication Syringes - 10 amzn.eu/d/5IbmH0e
