Robert Kirkman once said some of his co-workers on the walking dead tv show suggested adding ideas of theirs into the comic. He was even tempted to introduce Daryl in the comics at one point. I didn’t like how he ended the comics, and the invincible comic as for that matter, mainly because it felt like he was suffering from burnout given the how many job titles he’s juggling while trying to write his comics and getting them made into TV’s, movies and video games. The least he could do is admit he was burnt out on the whole thing instead of blatantly lie about it.

The Walking Dead was a great show up to season 4. It's problem isn't the writing as the comics are well established and solid. It's problem is budget and scheduling and it's artistry and craft suffers as a result. If you look back to conflicts with The Governer and even the shoot out with the criminals were Rick was originally shot in ep 1. It was cinematic, look dangerous and had a sense of realism. Having just watched the episode of the attack on the Sanctuary in season 8, honestly it was like watching an episode of the A Team. They were rattling off rounds everywhere and acheiving very little, in early seasons they would have depicted carnage, here I saw a round hit a car but left no hole. It's directing is off and it's production design is off.

Valentino M. Probably military bases and stole from people who could legally own class 3 firearms by going through all that complicated paperwork mess. In the comics it makes more sense as Eugene and other Alexandrians were building bullets throughout the war for Rick but that simply doesn't happen in the series as he is taken by Negan. Man I hate season 7 and 8.

i agree with Romero, the first 2 seasons were great, it was about survival then. when 3 came with woodbury, thought it was okay but im pissed off with season 4, because this season will be about him, too. in the latest episode i saw that he is going to form another camp and so im thinking, when is it going to be over with him?!? melodrama seems to have taken over the show, i want to seem them fight the plague. i hope next season will be different and there is also too much focus on carl.

Right on, Roger. No one mentions (few have seen) "The Last Man on earth" with the lumbering zombies surrounding the house with imagery so similar to "Night of the Living dead" the two films could be intercut without detection. (Include also 1965 's "Carnival of Souls" as a clone). It's sad how the commercial brainwashing is so effective that younger "zombie" fans assume "Walking dead" is ground-breaking and superior without watching the originals and making up their own minds.
@capkronos00
@capkronos00 4 жыл бұрын
Carnival of Souls is from 1962 so it clearly didn't "clone" The Last Man on Earth from two years LATER. Also the movie Invisible Invaders from 1959 has zombies so it had been done before Last Man more than once. The difference is Romero defined his zombies as dead humans revived as flesh eaters. The "zombies" in Last Man are little different than VAMPIRES (can't be in sunlight, repelled by garlic, avoid mirrors, etc.)

I find what he said about TWD to be fascinating, due to the Image Comics pilot originally taking place in the same universe as Night Of The Living Dead. The famous news report from the movie is featured in the pilot, as Rick and Carol (soon to be Lori) are watching the report on their TV. Now that I think about it, Mercer might have gotten his name from Mercer County that was mentioned in the report. It's funny that Romero was interested in working on the series because Day Of The Dead is Robert Kirkman's favorite of Romero's zombie movies.
@furious3383
@furious3383 6 жыл бұрын
Well, actually if there is one thing that both his Romero's films as well as Kirk's series(TWD) did share was how the recently unburied dead came back. No bite was necessary just die. For as long as the brain remained intact unless you either took a bullet or massive blunt force trauma to the head, you would reanimate.

Also there are annoyances in the 'Walking Dead' some of the characters are just plain annoying and whiny and still alive, Like the kid, the chinese guy, the only characters I really like are the two brothers the older woman and Hershel. Even for a B movie production the characters in George's films were really memorial and likeable, there isn't one character I thought that I couldn't stand or thought didn't belong in the film. He definitely knew what he was doing.

Supposedly back in the late 90s, George was originally assigned to direct the movie for Resident Evil. But unfortunately, according to an article I've seen in a magazine, Capcom and the movie company they got in touch with didn't like the script George had written for the movie and that it was nothing like the game and had no connection with it. they just didn't want to use it. So they fired him.

I think it's a real shame that the younger (YOLO) generation don't appreciate Romeo's masterpieces and its undertone messages/meanings . All they want are choreographed gunfights and Jersey shore-like drama. The Walking Dead ruined the entire zombie legacy. Now the diehard fans/old timers are forced to put up with butchered, Hollywood crap like Brad pitt's World War Z.

George gets his due for creating the story line & genre period. TWD is a reflection of the fear that our society is in over an apocalyptic demise. The political circus & it's talking heads continue 24/7 with the lies they want us to believe. Today's atmosphere just FEELS like something is coming. The idea of considering the pitfalls, dangers, hazards, what-have-you, to surviving a post apocalyptic viral plague, strikes me as almost psychological prep for what may confront us one day: like food, water, no electricity, etc. Never mind full-blown anarchy: survival of the fittest, or Mad Max scenarios...The show is excellent, that's why it's so popular. That's all...

kcmet79 This last season seemed to default back to the idea that once again we have a group that hasn't realized that society has fallen apart and the old ways no longer apply. Just like the walkers in the barn they realize their is an obvious threat in front of them and unknown threats that will soon be presented to them. Move the story along. We don't need more episodes where Daryl earns his place and proves his worthiness. Trust that the foundation is established and the audience can pick up quickly to new story arcs.

Rip George romero King of the zombie movies you could get someone else to do them but they wouldn't be as good or in fact great his long time fx guy tom savini equally just as good as a independent film maker he rocked his two best were I think dawn of the dead 1978 and day of the dead 1985 although this one was a little watered down compared to his original film script but nevertheless just as good the late Joseph pilato will be immortalised as captain Rhodes some other good things too about day of the dead the impressive fx work from tom savini and his fx crew it is a great shame that they don't make movies like these anymore to round off the 3 most scariest men in America are stephen king George romero and Tom savini these greats of film making are brilliant and true legends ❤😂🎉😅😊 Carl Lord.

There would be no "Walking Dead", if not for Romero's films- good or not so good. TWD creator Rob Kirkman has stated, very clearly, that "I want to make a Romero movie that doesn't end". Kirkman has obviously (and correctly) built his television juggernaut on the shoulders of a giant.

Walking Dead was fun the first season but then it got pretty repetitive and stale. Can't believe there's a spinoff now.

Walking Dead is better than any movie Romero has made in the last 20 years

Its fairly hard to admit shows like the sopranos, the walking dead, OZ, breaking bad, sons of anarchy, game of thrones, spartacus are all hit shows, with huge weekly (or the shows that are no longer in production) had huge weekly/annually viewing numbers/statistics, big DVD sales and lots of memorbalia, the same was said about the sopranos 10 years ago "it will be forgotten" LOL right, IM fairly sure a Comic book strip AS SUCCESSFUL as the walking dead (nearly 107 issues now and STILL GOING)

They are two completely different beasts. While I agree that Romero's Dead Films will not be forgotten (Actually I think Day is the most timeless one), I don't think The Walking Dead will be forgotten either. Romero's films are about social commentary, but The Walking Dead has much better storytelling.

calling the walking dead a soap opera with zombies is like calling breaking bad a soap opera with meth its a tv show there's a lot more they can do with the people besides just killing zombies and having sex like most zombie movies do

The similarities are there but TWD & THE DEAD movies are worlds apart.

"Walking Dead" is like the slick tribute band "Rain". Sure, the sound/color and visuals are better, but they're not "the Beatles". "Walking dead" will be forgotten while Romero's "Night" and "Dawn of the Dead" will still be the best.
