He's quicker than most people realise. But defence against big guys and kicking range are his big limitations IMO.

Jonno Davis he’s been England’s starting number 10 throughout England’s world record equaling winning run. Farrell’s started 10 twice under Jones, in one game we were destroyed by Ireland at home and the other he got moved to 12 after 30 mins because the game was going so badly

Jonno Davis I don’t support any team. So what about all those times we battered teams when Ford played. We got battered by Ireland with Farrell at 10, should we drop him aswell?

Jonno Davis still doesn’t explain Farrell though? Plus if teams are having to target Ford that can only be a good thing as it means they see him as a threat, also you’re forgetting how well Ford played against South Africa

Jonno Davis Not sure what you being a player has to do with anything. I’m a wasps youth player and I can tell you Ford is a special talent. What you’ve said doesn’t apply to Ford. Also watch the first South Africa game again and look at how Ford played, you might learn something

Ford is great for club level, but not consistent enough to start over Farrell for England imo. (This is coming from a bath fan)

How players like him and Robshaw starts for England just shows the lack of world class players they have. You might as well play with 14 men with this guys defense and the little creativity he brings can't nearly make up for it.

@@Tom_Harding yeah I did, 2 clips in the entire video were for England. All good to be a good club rugby player, but international is another level and he isn't good enough to make the step up.

@@Tom_Harding haha him making one pass that eventually leads to a try, is definitely not him "setting up tries". The worst defending flyhalf in the top 7 of the world rankings. We'll see what happens next weekend, I'm betting he gets dominated

Robshaw puts in a great shift, i will say Ford is a liability at times but Cipriani and Jones really don't get along so he's the best option (unless Jones learns about Freddie Burns)

Faz is better at long range but I personally think ford is more consistent

Ford is miles better than Farrell, Ford is more creative, takes the ball to the line, puts the defence on the back foot and plays his runners into spaces with defenders not knowing who the ball is going to until its too late, and of course Ford himself is lightning quick. Farrell is a better defender and probably a better kicker although Ford is improving in both aspects and IMO is a much better defender than people realise, particularly for his size. But Farrell is one dimensional in attack, he hasnt got Ford's pace and offers little as a running threat, and his passing is too often way behind the line so the defence know who is getting the ball. England score far more tries with Ford at 10 than with Farrell. We never used to be a great attacking team, our identity was defence and goal kicking, Ford changed that, his debut 6nations was the first time i watched england where we looked like a world class attacking team. The last time we looked that dangerous in attack was in Wilkinsons day and that was more off the back of easily one of the best forward packs in rugby history

Tom Harding In the way that his kicking percentage is lower than Scotland’s Greig Laidlaw, Ireland’s Johnny Sexton, Frances Fredrick Michalak and Wales’ Dan Biggar, and those are just one of the players from those nations, a lot of their players have a higher kicking percentage than him, not saying he isn’t a good kicker but he’s far from the best

How this chap is ahead of Cipriani in the pecking order is beyond me .Poor defence and very little creativity.He doesnt offer that little bit of magic that might win crucial,tight games.
