George Foreman Recalls Incredible Conversion: 'Jesus Christ Is Coming Alive in Me!'

Inside the ring and out, George Foreman was a man driven by anger and resentment - raging emotion that drove him to become the world heavyweight champion in 1973. More than a decade later, he did it again, but the driving force behind that record-breaking comeback was profoundly different.
Foreman abruptly walked away from his boxing career for the first time in 1977, after a significant spiritual awakening. Growing up, his mother - a single parent raising six children in the Fifth Ward community of Houston - spoke of God often, a habit of which Foreman was not fond. But those words, seeds planted over time, sprung to life for the boxing champion as he recuperated in his locker room after a fight.
"My first time around, I was just ambitious: I wanted to be top heavyweight champion of the world ... rich and famous and that whole thing," Foreman recently told CBN's Faithwire. "Then, all of the sudden, I hit that rock. I found out there was more to life. I found God on the dressing room table, screaming, 'Jesus Christ is coming alive in me!'"

George Foreman's story sounds like something out of the Old Testament, where he hits rock bottom as a human being, follows his faith, and then wins the impossible battle at 46. It's inspiring and now a movie tells the story to people who need to hear it.

I highly doubt George Foreman will read this comment, but I hope that he and others remember that, "Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him." (Psalms 92:13-15) He, and we, need not fear that our "story is over" no matter how old we get and what heights we have reached in the past. The Bible is FULL of men and women that God called at an advanced age. His most fruitful years may still be ahead of him :)

The Love and Respect I have for my brother in Christ , knows no bounds. I remember staying up in the early 1970's to watch him fight, and he was so mean, then to watch him fight Tommy and to see the peace of Christ. Now that is a miracle. To see one of the hardest punching men in history who was nasty to the core, show up with that Power , to give glory to the Lord.. this is the miracle God performs every day on those whom He loves. The depth and breadth and height and depravity of the natural man is limitless in its hatred of Christ, yet the prodigal son story in Luke's Gospel and the prodigal son story of George Foreman can be our story. Soli Deio Gloria.

_"We give all glory to JESUS CHRIST, not man."_ Have you told your mother that you hate her and have you abandoned all of your possessions as your savior has commanded you to do? Jesus will only grant you everlasting life if you hate your mother, abandon your family, and give up all of your possessions- Luke 14:26-27 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters - yes, even his own life - he cannot be my disciple." Matthew 10:34-37 "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law - a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household." Matthew 19:29 "And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life." Luke 14:33 “…therefore, none of you can become my disciple if you do not give up all your possessions." Jesus also says disobedient children must be killed as required by Old Testament law: Mark 7:9-10 "And he said to them, “You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition! For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’, and ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’" (See Ex 21:15, Lev 20:9, Dt 21:18-21) Matthew 5:40 Do not defend yourself in court- "And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well." Cannibalism is an integral part of Christianity. John 6:53 "Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever gnaws my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a difficult and harsh and offensive statement. Who can accept it?" From this time, many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him." Jesus approves of slavery too- Matthew 8:5 "When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. “Lord,” he said, my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.” Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?” The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed." Jesus' parables approving of slavery and beating slaves. Luke 12:46-47 "The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes." Luke 17:7-9 "But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not."

@@alcottdevalte7440 Jesus Christ IS the Word of God. In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word WAS GOD. @@trayseebee6413 The idea of Jesus and God being one, self, glorifying himself so that I may glorify myself, someone being greater than himself, someone going to himself, and other verses; it makes no sense. There's no trinity to what John says; "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". I can't even comprehend how this can imply "the word was son of god and the word was the father..." when it's clearly comprehended different. Adam didn't have a mother and a father, and that still makes him only a human being. We even read in the book of Hebrews about Melchiseded, he was priest of the most High God, Melchiseded was the king of Salem, he didn't have a mother or a father as well... Even Moses and many other great prophets did great miracles by the permission of God. We can even read in the second book of Kings; Elisha is dead and buried, and another dead man who gets thrown next to him gets brought back to life just by coming in contact with Elisha's corpse... We read in the book of Numbers; "God is not a man...nor a son of man…" Jesus is called the son of man in numerous places.. We clearly read in the book of Acts; “Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.” We also read in the book of John; "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent". All praise is due to God, who begets no offspring, and has no partner in His dominion, and has no weakness, and therefore no need of any aid- and [thus] extol His limitless greatness.

@@alcottdevalte7440 Jesus claimed that the Father sent Him: “the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world” (John 10:36). In this statement, Jesus claimed preexistence in the Father’s presence. No biblical prophet had ever made such a claim before; yet Jesus claimed to exist before Abraham (John 8:58). Jesus only stated that the Jews did not believe Him; He never said they misunderstood His claim to be God. John 10:38 notes, “Even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.” Jesus was not correcting a misunderstanding. They understood what He said perfectly. He was correcting their willful rejection of Him. Colossians 1:16-17 affirms Jesus’ same teaching: “In him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” John 1:1 explicitly notes that Jesus was both with God in the beginning and was God. The Bible is clear about the divine nature of the Lord Jesus Christ (see John 1:1-14). Philippians 2:6-7 says that, although Jesus was "in very nature God, He did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness." Colossians 2:9 says, “In Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.” Jesus is fully God and fully man, and the fact of His incarnation is of utmost importance. He lived a human life but did not possess a sin nature as we do. He was tempted but never sinned (Hebrews 2:14-18; 4:15). Sin entered the world through Adam, and Adam’s sinful nature has been transferred to every baby born into the world (Romans 5:12)-except for Jesus. Because Jesus did not have a human father, He did not inherit a sin nature. He possessed the divine nature from His Heavenly Father. Because Jesus was God in the flesh, He alone could pay the debt we owed to God. His victory over death and the grave won the victory for everyone who puts their trust in Him (John 1:12; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 17). Repent therefore of your denial that Jesus is God. Pray for forgiveness of your denial. Have a good day!

Mr Foreman, Mr Frazier, Mr Ali, Mr Norton, and the men in that Era who fought 15 rds, and left everything in the ring, became good friends afterwards. GOD is absolutely amazing in how HE does things.

Why did Ali beat him then?

@@Douglas83123 One fight doesn't define a boxer. Ali went 56-5, Foreman went 76-5. Foreman won the heavyweight championship at the age of 45.

@@SavedbyGraceAlone1962 One fight or not, Ali would beat him everytime. He was just a better boxer than Foreman, even Foreman admitted that.

@@Douglas83123 Totally disagree. The only reason Ali beat him the one time was because Foreman underestimated him and was over confident and cocky. If there had been a 2nd and 3rd fight, Foreman, the better boxer by far, would have destroyed Ali, who was too much of a wimp to answer the call from his country.
