I must say, watching this clip brings tears to my eyes.. When I was younger and growing up, the older generation wouldn't hear a bad word against George Formby. It's tunes like this that got them through those very dark days of German arrogance. As they used to say, England's bread hangs by Lancashire's thread....x

this song always makes me cry for some reason, i think it's maybe because i think george was pretty amazing and made so many of the troops smile during the war, and anyone who can do that deserves my happy tears x

I saw this film 3 times when I was a boy in Denmark right after the war, we loved it, as we loved all english at that time, after 5 yars of German occupation

Dark times but an uplifting song. This Country never deserved to be in this bloody war.

you can tell all the guys singing in the background at the end are genuinely enjoying themselves and think george is great!

Saw this movie in the cinema....pure, and sheer nostalgic. I still whistle the song it`s in the air.

When the Germans occupied Denmark in 1940 they graciously allowed English films to finish their runs. A cinema near where my dad lived kept playing "It´s in the air" until the copy was completely worn out.

Considering what was coming, it is ironic. I wonder how many of these boys actually fought and gave their lives for freedom? Thank God for the positive nature of song and entertainment.

@mkcwebmaster Such a jolly song for such a dark period. Anthony Kimmins the director, didn't just make films he re-joined the Navy for WW2.

It's part of the "George Formby - Comic Icons" box set. You can get it from Amazon or shops like HMV. You can also get cheap home-made box sets from eBay but the reproduction quality really is awful.

@DrewidDesktop well, it's a little ironic that the war actually broke out shortly after the film was made... is that what you mean?

I'm not the only one to realize the irony.
