From the film "Keep Your Seats, Please" (1936), starring George Formby, Florence Desmond, Alastair Sim, Gus McNaughton and Hal Gordon. Composers: George Formby, Fred E. Cliffe & Harry Gifford. Keep Your Seats, Please is a classic farcical story about a man who inherits a fortune from his late Aunt, who has sewn the money into the lining of a chair. Unfortunately the chair is part of a set of several identical ones, each of which have been acquired by different people. The race is on for George to find the right chair and get his rightful inheritance before it's too late.

Finally I could see the movie, it' really an interesting adaption, even when it's only very loosely based on the book (like only 7 chairs or the tryings to get the chairs).

Great movie based on the 1928 Russian Soviet-time novel "The Twelve Chairs" by Ilya Ilf and Yevgeni Petrov. Great music. Unfortunately, the first (but awesome) TV adaptation of the novel in the USSR itself was made only in 1971.

It's a banjo ukelele, or commonly known as a banjolele, and George Formby was an absolute genius at playing it. George hasn't even got out of first gear on this song.

That's a funny scene. Interesting, where I can find more from this movie? I read, this movie is a version of the novel "The 12 chairs" and I'm a fan of its authors Ilf and Petrow.

My Auntie was Binkie Stuart. I am looking for my cousins, John, Alistair and Fiona. (I think those names are correct. Alistair is as it is one of my Dads names. I would love to see my cousins again, my blood family.) I met them once when I was about 10.
