From a spectators perspective this is a wonderful insight & tremendous use of instruction. Formby was a truly wonderful gent & the fact his music still remains loved is testament to his talent. One day I wish I'll be able to own my own uke & perhaps be able to learn at least one recognisable cord or two. Many thanks

Christopher. Fascinating set of videos on the Formby technique. Despite a great deal of practise and help from other Formby-style players, I still have terrible trouble with the shake. Is it more complicated than you say? Do you go down and up through all the strings in the shake? Is there any more help you can provide in getting it right. I can do all the other Formby strokes (though not as fast as you or him) but I find, with the stroke, that I can do it sometimes but not with any regularity and it all goes to pieces as I get faster.

@@Banjoleletinman Thank you, Christopher. I'm most impressed with your Formby-style playing and explanations. I've got to know some of the best Formby players in the UK but for you to do all that on a conventional uke rather than a uke banjo with "low action" is pretty amazing. I shall follow your advice and keep practising. Only recently discovered your videos (led to you by Charlotte Pelgen).
