Perot led the first polls that year. His family was threatened and he dropped out for a time. He never recovered. Otherwise he would have won. The tv and print media made light of the story, his daughter's marriage was to be disrupted, supposedly. Of course, if mischief aimed at family is threatened, the implication in the threat is that the lives of family can be considered threatened as well.

Reading this in March of 2024 as Bobby Kennedy Jr leads both Biden and Trump in voters 18-35 during the first polls of the election year. I hope he doesn’t back down if the deep state tries it on him as they did Trump, I hope he fights back as Trump did, and I have a strong faith he does. Those Kennedy’s will fight to the death for their principles. Good people as Perot and Trump. Kennedy 24!

For everyone asking why Ross Perot wasn’t elected…remember a majority of Americans are not politically engaged and will vote down ballot for their party. Independents and swing-votes are a minority. Second, it is only recently many Americans have lost faith in the corporate media. Back then, a team of analysts lay in wait after each debate to tell you who won.

Ross was a glimpse of what power a third party candidate could possess and use to influence American politics. Trump & Biden are proof that we need a third party now more than ever.
@taylorsebring99810 ай бұрын
I think trump was as third party candidate as we have gotten for years. He literally changed the republicans stance and perception on many levels. There was a time that republicans were way more pro war and anti trade protections and huge globalists. Trump brought his own type of Republican way. Which I don’t think was all bad. Just sucked he was so unlikable. But he did expose how much of a deep rooted problem in our DOJ about different rules for different people and that means there’s pretty sketchy things that go on behind closed doors.
@Wadiyatalkinabeet_4 ай бұрын
Trump just used the Republican Ballot in order to have a chance at winning. He’s actually a lot like Perot ideologically. So is Robert Kennedy Jr though, and Kennedy isn’t using a party to better his chances at winning. He’s sticking independent like Perot. Kennedy actually made his own party, “We the People” like Perot did “Reform Party” fun fact, Trump was registered under the Reform Party for years and even attempted a presidential run under it during 2000.

If the Electoral College was abolished or reformed to where it wasn't a winner-take-all system and if Ross Perot didn't take a break from his campaigning, I guarantee that a good chunk of non-voters would have come out and voted for Ross Perot. Always remember. Every election year, 45% to 60% of eligible voters don't vote, because of the Electoral College. However, with a fair system in place, non-voters are more likely to come out and vote. But the Dems and repubs don't want a fair system, because they're afraid of first-time voters voting for a third entity and losing to that entity.

People made fun of him, because he had a working class southern accent. He was the only person who ran for president that truly loved this country. That is till Trump ran & won. I waited that long & it was heartbreaking to watch my country being sold out.
@mst26282 жыл бұрын
People made fun of him because the major players in news media went out of their way to portray him as a joke & someone to be dismissed.... And as usual the majority of the herd did just that. Dismissed him without really even listening to what he had to say. Especially when it came to his 30 minutes campaign ads where he took the time to explain the problem we were in with the deficit & all...along with his plan to balance the budget. Using the graphs & charts as an added tool in order to make sure people understood for which he was also mocked. That being said... I found your comment to be another prime example in regards to how ignorant the majority of people in the United States are. Makes the thought of an actual democracy seem almost as terrifying & incompetent at working as the type of Government we have.

I agree w many of these comments on here, I was in college in the early 90's at the time and for me Ross Perot was the right man for the job if we really wanted to have change without having to be scared about it, Bill Clinton may have been a Rhode Scholar but Ross Perot was also very well educated at Innapolis I believe, he was a navy man and was also a product of the world warII generation, it takes more than just Great intellect to make a good or great leader but also experience and insight in order to recognize what's needed for change, that is change for the better and I truly believe Perot had it in Spades over Bush or Clinton, and remember he was also a self made business man like Donald Trump except Ross Perot's company produced products in technology that we use in everyday life..... we were robbed of having him or at least an established 3rd. party since then!!!! Ross Perot was an innovator and I Loved listening to him at the time w All Ears, no Pun intended..,.........!?!?! 🧐🙃😉👍👍

I was young at the time, only a high school student. Clinton didn't win state vote of Arkansas, plus as he entered his presidency he was aloof for months with his team of officials. Very different then former Presidents who seem to nail it, next day ready to lead. I leaned towards Perot, though fearful of his attitude towards Congress, there was laughter at my opinion.
@stephane19523 ай бұрын
This was an amazingly intelligent, smart, high-level debate between three respectable, decent American men. Ross Perot: I am an independent, I raised my own funds, and I want to help out this country, and I will make sure that we won't turn the American public into zombies. I am here to serve these people. We need to bring change. Clinton: I am somebody who will fight trickle down economics, and talk to Mr Bush about serious economic policies. I might not have experience, but I worked hard to educate people and bring jobs, and add income. Bush: I have managed to change the world, by making sure that there is world peace, and avoid a nuclear war. My economic program is based on congressional change, and will work with Republicans and Democrats. I have experience. Perrot is trying to blame the economy, but we are in a global slowdown. Imagine if Clinton, Trump or Biden showed up at a debate and said: "Americans are smart and capable of intelligently understanding issues."
