On January 8, 1992, about 8:20 p.m JST, while attending a banquet hosted by the Prime Minister of Japan, Kiichi Miyazawa, U.S. President George H. W. Bush fainted after vomiting in Miyazawa's lap.
This copy is taken from the CNN tape master of the incident, restored correcting the white and black levels, slight cropping, and then using Izotope RX8 decracklling and spectral denoising the tape audio. This is the best copy you can find online!

In “Barbara Bush, a Memoir”, the former First Lady explains the incident [I read the book]. She says that a couple of hours before the state dinner, George told her that he wasn’t feeling well but not too bad. Later in the dinner, Bar explains that everything was going well [the Japanese told the media to go away during the dinner; a camera was left running causing the ailment of the President to become popular in people’s homes throughout the world]. The President whispered to the Prime Minister that he was not feeling well and he needed to go; unfortunately, George did not have time to leave and started throwing up. That’s just a concise version… by the way, what Prime Minister Miyazawa shouts is, “you go and protect your President”

@@user-td2jl9gv5v guess what, Koreans were legally Japanese back then, and actively supported the war as soldiers, generals, politicians, and media personnel. It’s only after the Korean War that y’all started this anti-Japanese propaganda. Y’all needed an enemy to blame all the devastation without blaming the fellow North Koreans or their southern sympathizers. What a “history” you talk of. Nothing more than piggy backing on Mao’s propaganda to cover their ill governance

Not trying to say he (definitely not his son) were good presidents, but this was a PTSD incident. If you look up what happened to him during ww2 you will understand what happened, and why at a Japanese banquet he had a mental and physical breakdown. Love the silent tension and chaos of a man vomiting at an inopportune time. Something about the outdated VHS quality, the sickeningly liminal beige interior, the aggressively soothing background music ticking along and the sheer panic that ensues create a strikingly uncomfortable cacophony of both image and sound. Watching as Bush's team frantically sprawl to contain the spilling old man vomit is both the perfect mix of viscerally grotesque and disturbingly intimate. This video is bizarrely uncanny yet innately bemusing and rare.

I used to be an emetophobic, too. I know your pain. My parents once took me to see a movie when I was five years old and saw a vomit scene, just panicked, shouted, and cried. A very, very close relative of mine vomited once on my 12th birthday, and I just couldn't speak to her for the whole day (I forgave her later). I also remember watching "Alexander, and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" in the vomit scene and silently crying in the theater and then I left to our family's car to bawl my eyes out. I USED TO HATE comedy/ family/actions movies because there is almost always a vomit scene. I remember when Spy came out, I couldn't stop crying. However, I started to self-assess. I need to overcome this. I didn't go to therapy, but exposure therapy little by little worked. I watched vomit scenes all myself little by little, and now I can proudly say that I'm no longer emetophobic. ALSO, don't worry about eating out. My tip is to always try to eat at home and when you go to a restaurant, try to opt for their specialty. In other words, for example, if they specialize in sushi, they are most likely to be extra careful in being clean when dealing with the sushi. I hope this helps you.

US citizens should have applauded Bush then for vomiting at a Japanese banquet. Why did they forget the Chichijima incident so completely? The souls of fallen (& eaten) US soldiers would be sorry. Japanese govetnment officially honors the soul of the main criminal even now. And all those Japanese at that banquet must have paid respect to that criminal, Tachibana Yoshio.
