Movie Star, George Hamilton is guest on "The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder' in this 1998 interview.
Among many stories discussed, the witty and humorous actor, speaks of his Hollywood perseverance and his new book at the time: Life's Little Pleasures.
"Damn, he is a movie star!" -Snyder on Hamilton
George Hamilton (b.1939) is an American film and television actor. His notable films include Home from the Hill (1960), By Love Possessed (1961), Light in the Piazza (1962), Your Cheatin' Heart (1964), Once Is Not Enough (1975), Love at First Bite (1979), Zorro, The Gay Blade (1981), The Godfather Part III (1990), Doc Hollywood (1991), 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag (1997), Hollywood Ending (2002) and The Congressman (2016). For his debut performance in Crime and Punishment U.S.A. (1959), Hamilton won a Golden Globe Award and was nominated for a BAFTA Award. He has received one additional BAFTA nomination and two additional Golden Globe nominations.
Hamilton began his film career in 1958 and although he has a substantial body of work in film and television he is, perhaps, most famous for his debonair style and his perpetual suntan. Bo Derek writes in her autobiography that "there was an ongoing contest between John [Derek] and George Hamilton as to who was tanner."
Tom Snyder (1936 -2007) was an American television personality, news anchor, and radio personality best known for his late night talk shows Tomorrow, on the NBC television network in the 1970s and 1980s, and The Late Late Show, on the CBS Television Network in the 1990s. Snyder was also the pioneer anchor of the prime time NBC News Update, in the 1970s and early 1980s, which was a one-minute capsule of news updates in prime time. David Letterman, who had idolized Snyder for years, hired Snyder in 1994 as host of The Late Late Show;
The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder aired live in the Eastern and Central Time Zones, and was simulcast to other time zones on radio to allow everyone a chance to call in.

I saw him a few months ago at a movies collectibles show at the Hilton Hotel by Burbank airport where he was a guest at a table signing autographs. He is in his 80’s and looks and sounds great. He is a very friendly man and my favorite celebrity at the show.

I used to work in Beverly Hills. Just about everytime I went to lunch, I'd see some star, bit actor or character actor. I was walking to this one place on "little " Santa Monica Blvd, and there was George Hamilton putting coins into the parking meter. He was by himself so I walked up to him, introduced myself and told him how much I loved the Evel Knievel movie. He said he had fun doing it, then shook my hand and thanked me for saying hello. And that was it. He was a nice guy

He is one of the last actors around who started under the studio system. He got a weekly salary from the studio as a contract player.

I love George Hamilton! Here’s a bit of information I came up with. In the 70s Marvel Comics was at the height of its popularity and I thought how cool would it be if Stan Lee decided to transition his Iron Man comics to film? George Hamilton in 1974 would have fit the role perfectly for Tony Stark/Iron Man. Now in 2008 when Iron Man was released by this time I think George Hamilton was too old to play Tony Stark hence Robert Downey Jr. got the role. But I still think of what would have been, George Hamilton would have been a great Tony Stark!

Hamilton is a survivor of old Hollywood. Maybe never being an A-lister was his luck.

Warren Beatty and George Hamilton were often confused together. The two of them looked and behaved very similair and were both known as womanizers. The two of them have had long relationships with their wives (even though Hamilton is divorced he and his ex wife are still often seen together and even hosted a tv show together). The two of them got confused so often that Beatty gave Hamilton a small role in the movie Bullworth as an in joke. The only difference is that Beatty was a big film star and Hamilton has always been a tv star.
