@anthonyyoutubefan7567
@anthonyyoutubefan7567 4 жыл бұрын
@@josh_jack True. But, it was George's idea to take the first four episodes of The Clone Wars and turn them in to a connected storyline, to show just how cinematic the show was meant to be. Unlike some, I liked The Clone Wars movie...and saw it opening weekend...my theater was pretty full. Now that Dave has directed a handful of Live Action episodes/chapters of The Mandalorian (Season 1 and Season 2), he's certainly closer to managing a full-length Star Wars film. I'd be happy if Filoni co-writes the Kevin Feige-Produced Star Wars film, while The Russo Bros. direct.

Dave Filoni deserves this spotlight with George Lucas. He is the true successor and should be in charge of Lucasfilms. Dave understands the things that make Star Wars great because he studied George, whereas it seems everyone else in Lucasfilms turned their backs on the one who made all of this possible.
@amransom26
@amransom26 4 жыл бұрын
He doesn’t want to be in charge of LucasFilm, he’s already in charge of the whole animation department, that’s enough for him. LucasFilm is a business first and foremost, someone who understands business needs to have that position. He just wants to continue making good stories, that can run counterintuitive sometimes with business.
@fakecubed
@fakecubed 4 жыл бұрын
@@amransom26 Who exactly that was responsible for the awful Disney Star Wars movies do you think "understands business"? The movies were so bad that nothing outside of Dave Filoni's efforts since George Lucas sold have had any success or critical praise whatsoever, and Disney's additional planned films have all been canceled or put on indefinite hold. If you have a good product, it sells itself. If you don't have a good product, no amount of business sense can overcome that deficit for long.

@@MRxSimpleDude the attraction that launched less than 2 months before Covid? It's not really surprising that numbers didn't suddenly jump up like that. As for toys, while it's not as cashgrabby as the Prequels, they're still selling a ton. The main reason is because everything's moved to mobile games. Look at in app purchases now vs 6 years ago. If a kid wants to play Star Wars, odds are they're going to do it on their iPad rather than go out and buy new toys. It's sad but it's true

It's also something completely different and out of the ordinary, which is George's MO. At the time the first Star Wars was released, it broke ground in visual effects, in sound, in story telling, it was something that truly hadn't been done. The prequels were giving a visual style that was radically different than the original trilogy while style retaining certain aesthetics and were the foundation for the move to the digital medium for filmmaking. The Clone Wars was a CGI animated tv show that was head and shoulders above other CGI tv shows not just from the technical side of it but from the story telling side of it. Very few shows have reached that level (Dragons: Race to the Edge is a fair rival to Clone Wars). As a filmmaker, George is all about trying new things, pushing the envelope of what can be done; whether it succeeds or fails doesn't matter, as long as you do something new and different.

*THEY’RE FINALLY RELEASING THE ORIGINAL UNEDITED MOVIE SOUNDTRACKS!!!* 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 For the confused people, they’re releasing the original film masters on digital in the highest quality possible for 2020. The original masters have been released before, but that was many years ago, so the quality isn’t there AND they’re very difficult to find for younger people (not on Spotify). The versions on Spotify now are honestly really bad, way to cut up and missing way to much. For example, there’s Darth Plagueis’s lite motif in ROTS, but on the remasters you only hear the choir nothing else. There’re loads of examples of this.

They just reassembled the original soundtrack albums from the original masters instead of the film masters as has been done previously. These remastered versions have been out for quite a while now, so I would suspect these interviews were done several years ago. But I can't help but hope that complete versions were worked on because it would be a waste to only remaster the stuff that hit the album. The complete versions are probably ready to go, just need a final sign off from John Williams and a lot of time for the release. But the minute they announce the complete scores to the original films they have my money!

He should definitely be in charge of all creative decisions, but maybe have him and Jon Favreau teamed up so he isn't given 100% supreme authority, because that seems like one of G.L.'s problems with the prequels...too many yes-men. Basically, Dave in charge of everything we see, but with someone to keep him reigned in so he doesn't go mad with power as everyone is capable of doing.

@@jamessuraciart he is. Favreau is there on Mandalorian because Lucasfilm needed skills to handle a cinematographic filmed series - only George used to master that in Lucasfilm. Filoni is a 100% animation guy. Favreau had all this experience from the Disney and Marvel movies he has made in the past years. But I guess both worked together closely, whithout much friction. It's a win-win partnership for both and Dave will be even more skilled now (and it shows on this last season of Clone Wars), and also for us spectactors: Mandalorian was very good.

Every since the Prequels concluded with ROTS. I always felt this era was another goldmine . In fact more robust mythologically than the OT ever was. TCW Series proved it! All the various aspects introduced, amazing characters, the originality, the additional vast lore, the grand world building, the imagination, etc. George and Filoni perfected all the cons via execution, direction, & dialogue, etc. What George Lucas created during this era was amazing. This is why Star Wars to me is the best modern mythology along with Tolkien. Period!

When I hear Filoni speak, it's the anthesis of Kathleen Kennedy. There's this organic passion that just bursts out of his pores. It's so obvious he respects and admires George and the lore he created. He's a creative type, not a corporate type. Kennedy sounds like rehearsed word salad, cold and calculated to deflect any sincere criticism of what she's done to Star Wars. Ahsoka seems to be everything that Kathleen and JJ tried, and failed, to accomplish with Rey.

bit of a nerdy behind the scenes stuff for the clone wars that I happened to be privy to... When it first started, it aired on CTV in Canada (which is one of the broadcast networks akin to ABC or NBC, rather than a cable channel like Cartoon Network). For them to get delivery of the show they had two choices: a secure download, which took approx 8-10 hours (maybe more) for what was a very big HD file for the time, OR if they wanted it physically delivered, they would have to pay for someone to personally fly the tape from San Francisco to Toronto, with the tape in a briefcase that they would literally handcuff to the person making the delivery. Tbh, I think that second option was over the top by design in order to encourage them to just download it. For some context, very little content would have been delivered by internet download back then. Most deliveries were done by satellite, with playback/record in real time.
