George Mason University today unveiled a completely redesigned logo as the capstone of its two-year-long, comprehensive rebrand. The new look, which will include a single logo for the university and its athletics program, asserts George Mason’s emerging identity as a national top 50 public university and Virginia’s top-ranked university for innovation and upward mobility, as well as the commonwealth’s largest and most diverse university.

It looks terrible. Intensely generic and boring, makes the school look like a junior college with 1500 students. I give it ~5 years before it's replaced at a similarly exorbitant cost. Great use of everyone's tuition money!

I don’t know what’s with companies these days simplifying logos and adopting a minimalist design approach. The old logo was so much better. This new logo has zero personality.

The old logo was so good. It was clean, simple, but had character. This new logo lacks all of those positive features

What was wrong with the old "quill M" logo?! It was recognizable, had character and symbolism, and was actually suited to a modern college instead of, like, a crypto startup or insurance company. Scrap this rebrand immediately and actually consult your student body well beforehand the next time you decide to do something drastic like this!
