Lyrics:
I won't let you down
I will not give you up
Gotta have some faith in the sound
It's the one good thing that I've got
I won't let you down
So please don't give me up
Because I would really, really love to stick around

This song helped me to connect with my Autistic son...I couldnt connect with him on any conversation and then suddenly he heard this song on the radio and wanted to know how to sing it...from then on we talked to each other and I would sing songs to him in my van and he would sing with me...Thank you George Micheal for helping me meet my son for the first time

I don't feel enough credit is given to David Fincher as the director of this video. He is the one who put this entire array of jewels together that make up the crown that is this masterpiece of a video. The look, the way the models communicate, what image goes with what lyric and where it goes, the individual different worlds each model exists in within the bigger world of the video, all of this is him, really. It is not surprising that he has gone on to have his film career. David Fincher is a brilliant talent. How lucky all these incredible forces were able to come together at this moment to create this piece of art.

Agreed 💯💯👏👏 he is a genius. Madonna wrote a beautiful ballad called Bad Girl & the video Fincher created is masterpiece, too. She was beyond beautiful in that video and that song breaks my heart. Fincher is a true master of his craft and approaches his projects like they are movies encapsulated into 3 or 4 minute pop videos.

@@halfvader8015 I dunno, maybe I'm translating it wrongly, but the supermodels worked with the message for me. Most of the people lip syncing to George's very male voice were female, two of which had a scene together with sexual tones. At the least, it has a message of wearing whatever you want, whether people judge you for being skimpy/prudish/unstylish (and in a more specific case, a crossdresser, but that's only implied). If we're bringing body types into the equation, though, the supermodels were a bad idea.

Well said. He was one hell of a cat. He even made a private free concert for the nurses of the hospital where his mom was having treatment. I love this video very much. The words, the girls, the guys, closeups, long shots, at last but not the least, the message of this great song. We should care for people around us and we need to nourish our inner freedom, as well. Live it, dont fake it. This is what this all about.

@@chaqillenikita748 He was aware of other people, first of all. He knew where are the danger zones of that time, before others. You are so right, and, If I may add, not to offend you in any way, there is nothing "trendy" and "fashionable" in being noble. Its a timeless virtue. That made him a good human being and a true gentleman. Witch is what he was, a gentle man, first of all. I miss him too. Nothing was the same after him im modern music. I grew up in the 80s/90s. My God, does this stand up and deliver. The song, the phrasing, the imagination how to deliver it on screen, the editing. The models. George Michael was an icon, back then we took it for granted cause it was new/current music. This is timeless. The world lost a really good one way way way to soon.

January 11th marks the 1 year anniversary of the death of the late Supermodel, Tatjana Patitz. She was one of the original female supermodels that appeared in George Michael's Freedom 90 music video in the early 1990s along with Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell. All of the 5 top female supermodel stars were popular, talented and famous in the model industry. I was so heartbroken and devastated over the passing of Tatjana Patitz who sadly died in early 2023 last year. I had no idea that she was battling with breast cancer. It's so sad that she didn't make it to 2024. But she will be remembered as a good person and a good model. She also will never be forgotten. May she continue to Rest In Peace. 1966-2023. 😢👼 🕊️

RIP Mr. George Michael. You have always been an inspiration to me. As a gay man who was bullied, lied to, used and often left in despair,, I have always related to the lyrics of your songs. I believe I am a stronger person for having listened to your amazing music. Much Love to you....

Gilbert... I was a "not" gay teenager stuck in a tiny town in the early 80. It was right when "the gay cancer" became a part of the many reasons people used to discriminate, harass, and vilify homosexuality. I could NOT be gay... I knew I'd get killed if my secret ever became public. So I locked up all my urges, hid from the world emotionally, and spent the next decade fighting myself, because, I couldn't be gay. I so understand what George Michael went through, but turn his anguish up to eleven.

We share the same experience. The pressure on George Michael though, the expectations on him to continue to market himself as the MTV-ified image of the straight man and keep his true feeling hidden from the public was horrific.

About time someone else see what I see and saw. Naomi, Christy, Cindy and the other few (I forgot names) were the top. When they were invited to party's of top entertainers they literally stole the show all the time. They were shapely and very pretty. There is no model now any match to them...The industry has allowed to many ugly women to be models and that is one of the reasons the model industry became nothing.

My favorite George Michael (GM) song and the video is a masterpiece probably one of the best videos ever made! The fact that GM didn’t even appear on the video himself and to recruit the top models back then only shows how big of an artist he was, that was another level of fame!

Knowing the history of George and all he went through before this song was released is key to understanding it. It spells out everything he went through and how he plans to rise above it. It's truly an autobiographical masterpiece.

This song is still as amazing as it was back then. He looks so young in this video. I forgot what he looked like without a goatee.

@@joesmith4388he released the album faith which was a huge success. In the midst of his popularity he was caught in a police sting operation. His record company wondered what his next step was going to be because it was a public relations nightmare. Thus came “Freedom”. Read up on it.

George wanted music that was going to stand the test of time. This song is brilliant. I believe this song will still be around 30 years from now along with Last Christmas, Careless Whisper and Faith.

I feel the same everytime I listen to Careless Whisper. You could plant that in today's chart and no one would be any the wiser as to what decade it came from. The mark of a true musical genius.

This song brings me back to the 80s. I know it came out in 90, and has 90 in the title, and everyone is saying it is a song of the 90s, which it technically true, but the 90s hadnt even happened yet. There was no 90s vibe yet. The 90s was literally a few months old when this came out we didnt know what the 90s were going to be like, we were just a bunch of 80s people , as was George Michael when he wrote it. To me its an anthem of the closing of the 80s, it has a late 80s vibe. When i think of the 90s I think more of grunge, I certainly dont think of this song as a 90s vibe song. But thats probably because I was a senior in high school, and I knew every nuance of every vibe of every year back then. Now im old and I have no grasp on modern songs. I guess it would be like if i heard a song from 2011 and said, "this song is so 2020's vibe!" Young people would be like ok grandma, time for your nap lol.
