George grew in Pearsall outside of San Antonio. In fact he now lives in a mansion in San Anton. He gave a great tribute to Mexican Legend, Vicente Fernandez. King of Mexican Country music when he died. He sang EL REY (The King) in impeccable Spanish. Honor from one king to another.

I have seen his mansion in san antonio. Same neighborhood of spurs coaches and athletes. I do uber so i picked up rider in neighborhood he lives in. His mansion has a helicopter pad. He is so humble.

One night had just came home from a date and had not really enjoyed the evening. Well I had got all cleaned up for bed. And decided to turn on what was country music television. And this came on it really ended my night on a very nice note. Then I know why I liked this song so much because I found later who wrote it. One of my other favorite artists Merle hanggerd. Thank you George for singing this and thank you Merle for writing this song. Oh if anyone wants to here Merle hanggerd version you will enjoy it very much.

And the actress that played you aunt was really a good fit and it was nice to see Rory Calhoun as the father of that wonderful actress that played your future wife . But there is a lot of us in our 50"s and 60"s that grew up listening to a mix of 40"s to 70"s County and it was what a lot of our parents and other relatives listen to so there is an appreciation for traditional County. And nowadays we have lost so many of the County artists we grew up listening to and there is just a few that still do traditional County. I love the song old sea shores of Mexico by George Strait since the day I first heard it. Alot of people don't know that it was written by George's and my other country hero the late Merle Haggard. George Strait has so many other great songs. If you like this song you might also like one of his older songs off one of his first cd's Blame it on Mexico.

But it was back in the days when you had to due two concerts in the same night. Also I know the hole story behind it all and I don't blame you one bit. Politics always get in the way if you know what I mean. Bakersfield still loves you !! Anyway we went to see you in Las Vegas a few years back and you still got it. I hadn't seen you in concert for probably 10 years and when you returned I thought I better go see ya before you quit for good. I'm glad I did. You played all the oldies and all my favorite songs. You even did an old Johnny Cash song. We loved it and mis seeing you play. God bless you and your family ! Not many know this, but Merle probably got his gift of phrasing from his mother.....if you listen to Old Rugged Cross on his gospel album, he recites some words his mother had written in her Bible.....absolutely beautiful.

Grew up in Texas and joined the Marines at 18. My parents were immigrants and I felt a calling to serve growing up in Texas. Traveled the world, went to combat with the Marines, lost good Marines and friends in combat. At 36, I came back to Texas with my wife and 3 beautiful children. During all my time traveling the world, I always missed Texas and yearned to come back hoke. Recently bought a new home in Texas and happy to be back home. ❤

There's not a DARN thing wrong with this video. George is sitting back reminiscing on the twists and turns that the errors of youth Can bring on. Fortunately in the end it worked out just fine. A man made some mistakes, stayed strong and changed his life for the better and is now telling a story reflecting with a sentimental grin how it came out alright. Well done video in my view. Besides George Strait being my favorite country singer alive, I love the fact that he ads his personal touch of humor to some of his songs. He evokes with love a non redeemable, long gone time, the notion of the "Old Mexico". The " Old Mexico" is a concept that became history....I'm sorry I never knew neither the old nor the new Mexico....Or probably not so sorry about not knowing the new Mexico...I'm so sorry about the Hell media shows us at the US borders...It looks like the US is under attack and I don't understand why no selective, legal immigration policy can be implemented. If thoroughly controlled by the Homeland Security, immigration can benefit to a country...Looks like things got out of control all over the world. Please keep the US safe. It's a humongous task but a "must" nowadays. God bless!

Old Mexico is alive, it is not a place, it is the hearts of the people. Lived in both and you cant judge the whole because of cartels. They are having their roaring 20`s with crime as America did with the Mafia back in the 20`s and 30`s. Just how the world turns when supply and demand is calling.

I seen George Straight in concert in Houston Tx.two times.The first time I seen him was the Coolest at the end of the show he rode around the Arena on a white horse.it was then I got to meet him shake his hand give him a Big hug and give him one Sweet Red Rose...George Straight was so Damn good I had to see him again second time was just as good cause I got in for free. to see another Awesome show. Love you George Straight...The Cowgirl Rides Away!

Anyone with but more than a trace of wanderlust cannot help but love this song....a new life, a new love, sunshine and the sea....what more could a wounded soul ask for.... And as much as grew up on - and loved - the originals by Hank Snow, The Hag, Willie Nelson...I still maintain that George Strait's version is the very best....
