He's not underrated. He's not near as good as many of the virtuosos that were playing at that time. Seems like he's a good capable rhythm guitarist. He has had lead guitarists playing with him on occasion.

So true one of the best no auto tune his actual voice right there it’s so unique .. George plays blues or rockabilly .. when he was out he was in the company of mainstream big hair rock band ..but he is so underrated .. like Prince

Saw him live a few years ago. He's quite the showman. Had everyone in the audience out of there seats & up on their feet dancing. People in their late 60's & even 70's (Everyone). The guy in front of us said it was his 5th time seeing George. I told him I can clearly see why. If you ever get a chance to see him live - Do It! You won't be disappointed.

True story. In the early 90’s my boss asked me to make a cassette tape of nothing but this song on both sides to play as he drove his 1966 Volvo while it was being restored. It had no windshield at the time so he drove it wearing a motorcycle helmet! What an icon of a song!

I used to have a stammer when I was a kid, a teacher used to call me Thorogood for some reason, it wasn’t until I discovered George Thorogood and The Destroyers years later that I realised it was the b-b-b-b-bad thing. Great song, awful teacher.
@Bulletguy07
@Bulletguy07 4 жыл бұрын
@Jordan Cruz Obviously GT does it on certain songs for effect only but as a true stammerer you must know that singing, whilst not a cure in itself, stammering doesn't happen during it. Here in UK we had a talent competition (X Factor). One year a young lad won it. He was a brilliant vocalist but had possibly the worst stammer i've heard. The guy who ran the show is a record producer and signed him up but also funded coaching lessons to help cure his stammer. He had a short musical career but years later appeared on tv to explain how his stammer had been cured and has since worked as a tv presenter.
@jordancruz7375

Why is George Theorogood great? Put in perspective. I was in high school when he came out. It was the start of heavy metal with Iron Maiden and major pop with Olivia Newton John. And yet...this old school blues rock was getting lots of airplay on the radio. Just from him. No others. He was so damn cool. The songs we so damn "Bad To The Bone", that everyone was listening. That's talent.

Loved the 80's. Your the exact age as my brother and I was 9 in 1980. It was a great time. Now if I could go back though I would want to see the 1950's.

My husband and I were in the Theater to see the release of a Terminator movie (I think it was the second one) when it opened in our area. When the Terminator steps out of the biker bar and onto the porch and this version of this song started to play is a moment in life I will never forget. The whole audience (and the theater was packed) broke out into applause and wild screaming and whistling. It was amazing, and I was clapping, and cheering right along with all of them! Such great memories.

Saw Brian Setzer (without the stray kats) open for GT&tDD at the nautica stage Cleveland 1987 when the flats was “the place to party”. Brian and George put on one heck of a show! Man…..to be 19 again drinking beer legally (grandfathered in when the alcohol laws were changed to 21). Been to a lot of concerts…….that one was the best! Rock on George and thanks for posting.

Such a dad anthem. Reminds me of Dads, post their midlife crisis, trying to balance a career as a lawyer, or engineer, kids in their 20s, a luncheon wife, and riding in a social MC club on the weekends. It's like "whatever dad, you ain't no badass. Not to me anyway".
