The US has a long history of inventing atrocities in “enemy states” so they can instigate regime change, coups and military intervention for “humanitarian reasons”. Recommend the book “Atrocity Fabrication and Its Consequences” by University of London scholar A B Abrams. The book has some great chapters on Xinjiang, Tibet, Tiananmen, in addition to the infamous WMDs in Iraq, chemical weapons in Syria etc.

Im from Beijing, my area is a muslin area from ancient time in Beijing, you could find many green signage muslin restaurants here, every morning around 10am - 12am, there are group of Uyghurs dancing their traditional dance in the square of mall, quite loud sometimes. Every one passed by, no one was bothered to say anything, because it is most common thing happen in our daily life.

This is a good question. My hunch is the media and politicians are connected. They collude to hype up certain issues to justify their existence and manage public opinion in order to advance their agenda. Lies can become truth in a managed state. There are many examples of that.

Years ago Xin Jiang thieves (yes you can tell right away) were all over china. In my city they were in legions in the streets. No one dared to make a sound seeing crime in action, even the one who was stolen had to pretend that he/she didn’t know what was happening because otherwise they might have lost more than a wallet. And my city is Shanghai, the most advanced, civilized, lawful city in China. Did the government round up the Xin Jiang thieves? I don’t know. I only know that the city is safe now.

I am a Hakka-Indonesian here and I can vouch this WAS indeed the case on my first visit to Shenzhen in 1995. My Mom almost had her bag snatched by an Uyghur criminal. My Uncle who resides there did warn us repeatedly about such syndicate. I revisited it in 2007 and I don’t see them anymore. I also didn’t receive as much precautionary warning either from my relatives. 😊

Don't want to just argue this political agenda. But want to list some useful numbers. Number of facts.: 500 years ago, there were 30-50 Million Native Indians living in North America, before pilgrims arrived. At the same time, there were literally NO Urghur people in China yet. Because Uighur first separated from Turkish to become a race is no more than 700 years ago. And they migrated to China starting about 500 years ago. During Yuan and Ming dynasty. The lowest point of Native Indians in N.America is 250k, before end of 19th century. And Uighur people of cause zero, before they migrated in. Now, there are about 2.6 Million Native Indians living in US. And that includes Senate Elisabeth Warren. Who claimed to have 1/1000 - 1/100 of Indigenous DNA. About 10 times more than the low point. But still less than 10% of original population. Meanwhile, there are 12 Million Uighurs now living in China. From literally zero from 500 years ago. So if there wass genocide, or discrimination, and where it actually happened? judge by yourself.

I agree that genocide is a stupid and exaggerated term (this was started by that fat Pompeo and Blinken was forced to continue with the term). However, the US has criticized India's treatment of Muslims also although India has not mass incarcerated Muslims. Does that mean US loves Indian Muslims? No. The State Department does not make such statements without evidence. The worst has been Han Chinese men assigned to live with Uyghur families/women while the husbands are sent to reeducation labor camps. It is not genocide - there are no mass graves, but it is persecution on a mass scale.
