In this Video, George becomes the patient as well as the therapist and inserts an NPA airway on himself gaining an understanding and the experience of what a patient would feel when one of these airways is inserted. Ouch

Some people just have the gift of teaching. No matter what they are speaking on, their voice and mannerisms just draw you in and you feel like you're listening to a friend and not being lectured to. George, thank you so very much for this video, sir! You are greatly appreciated!

I saw a guy do it after putting it in his mouth to lube it with his own spit then shove it in his head. I could never imagine applying it to myself. That man is crazy.

@@serenitynoobosity5905 I wasn't let in back in 76 because of high protein but still to this day I work in chemical plants and am still useful. In a way I'm glad I didn't make it in back then because of all the suicides of our Veterans, I feel that their treatment after their service leaves a lot to be desired :(

@@TheGreatFuckinWorm You can use spit or blood to lube it if your lube pack has punctured in your kit. People freak out about things being sterile. You can only fight infection if your alive to do so. It's like saying, I would have saved his life but nothing I had was sterile, so he probably would have gotten an infection.

I'm just doing a basic airway management refresher (EMT) and realized I had never seen a training video showing insertion on an actual person. This was great! Watching you size that NPA, it sure looked to me like the size 7 was too long, and your gag reflex apparently thought so too. You are a braver man than I. Thanks so much for a great series of videos.

Wow! I had a spinal cord injury (C6 complete) years ago and this procedure is the only thing I look back on like it was yesterday. I had it done twice and the third time they wanted to do it I told them they’d have to put me under… it was worse than breaking my neck and the multiple surgeries and years of rehab afterwards. I am amazed you did this willingly and impressed you did it with such grace! What a Doctor and man you must be!!

We were told blood could be used as a last resort, but you don’t want to do it because when blood dries and you have to take out the NPA it will be very painful. Saliva, either the patient’s or yours, would be better
