Ulcerative colitis is IBD, not IBS.....a HUGE difference. I was diagnosed with UC 25 years ago after severe crampiing and bloody stools. After the sigmoidoscopic exam, it was determined that I was only about a 2-3 on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the worst. When I went thru the flare-up, it sure didn't feel like a 2-3 to me, but after some meds, it went away for a few years. Then I've had it come and go for short periods of time when I got off the meds (sulfasalazine, but went on an enema steroid once to calm things down). It really affected me most from a psychological standpoint because when it occurs, you're paranoid about knowing where the closest bathroom is. If his case remains mild, which mine has, it shouldn't really affect his career very much. It's only if he has a flare immediately before a bout that it can be problematic. Funny thing is that I just had my first colonoscopy, which I should have had two decades ago, and the doctor said he couldn't even really see any scarring, which would be typical for most UC patients. George, if you could be a spokesperson for the IBD community, you've be an even BIGGER hero to all of us than you are already. Man, that would be awesome!

I relate a lot to what you've said. I'm 19 and was diagnosed a few years ago and thankfully it's only mild (very rare to get flare-ups). As a fan of MMA and in particular UFC, it's nice to know those with UC aren't alone.

So sorry to hear that GSP has been diagnosed with UC. I've been dealing with this for over 10 years now and it has been a roller coaster. Wish him well and a full lengthy remission.

One of the best spoken athletes ever, up there with guys like Federer in terms of having pure class in everything he does. George seemed very relaxed and calm here as well, its obvious hes feeling much better and its good to see. Also loved the way he gave Bisping and Rockhold credit despite the things they have said about him, dude just rises above like a true champion.

I guess now that he took the belt from Bisping and returned order to the MW rankings by giving the belt to the top guy in Whittaker, he looks like he's cutting weight to go after Conor's Lightweight belt and than return order there LMAO. GSP & Bisping had the division on hold for a full year while they were trying to make their fight, hardly what I'd call "bringing back order" to it.

Alex, since when does the challenger hold a division up? It wasn't a year either that involved GSP's name, Nov 12 2016 is when Conor won the belt in NY and GSP wasn't holding his press conference that he was coming back until early March of 2017. GSP was saying he was ready to compete again back in June of 2016 but haters like yourself, led by Dana White, that GSP was full of shit and doesn't have the killers edge any more to compete at a high level like the UFC. Now that he proved that it was the haters who were full of shit and have no right to jufgr him as to what it takes to compete, now guys like you want to use his original come back call out as the time line as to when negotiations took place? Dana was asked at the scene of the crime where Conor took hostages in NY if GSP was coming back and said it again it was never happening. It was announced on Mar 1/ 2017 the GSP vs Bisping fight and it was only a few weeks before that when Dana said they were in talks thanks to Freddy Roach meeting with him in Vegas to get a contract done to just let GSP fight. So save the division hold-ups for the real fake champs like McGregor who has never defended a belt in his life, and he had two of them at the same time so you'd think at least one defense should have happened.

Wow he already shrunk. Welter to lightweight is best for his body. He's the greatest with DJ and compete anywhere but for his health middleweight may be more weight than is optimal for him. I wanna see him and Whitaker though, especially since Whitaker is a smaller middleweight who also was a welterweight. Sucks it's not happening, I think GSP had a good chance if he through a lot of kicks and super man punches along with takedown attempts.

@MrChrisMDong What caused it? Eating like a pig. I used to lift heavy and eat without discipline... binge eat. Caused IBD. Now I cant go on a run without getting ridiculous skin rashes because I'm inflammated all the time. Bloating all the time and waking up at night if I don't go to bed fasted. I can believe he got what he got without roids.

I have colitis without the ulcers. It was a bitch when I first found out I got it. But once you find a treatment that's good for you, you rarely flare up could be years till his next flare up. Eat healthy and eat probiotic foods and manage stress and you're gucci.

For mild cases, diet alone is enough to keep UC and IBS under control. I have IBS only when i eat a lot. Then my body shuts down. I keep it under control with IF. I eat 600-800 calories for 3-4 days , i lose 4-5 pounds and then my digestion restarts again. But obviously with IBS and UC you have to eat less. So it's impossible for GSP to get big so he will fight at 170 or 155.

WOW GSP lost a lot of weight already! My uncle has colitis. It is a LIFE-LONG affliction with no cure that I know of... maybe in the beginning stages, it is reversable. If my uncle, eats red meat, drinks alcohol, eats anything spicy and or lots of other kinds of foods, he has bloody diarrhea and pain that sometimes last for WEEKS! The last episode lasted for 2 months!!! Smoking, unfortunately helps relieve many of the symptoms.... so if my uncle smokes nicotine with his VAPE, he can tolerate a beer or two, some pepper on eggs etc.... So, do I believe GSP? Yep. Absolutely. Dana, who has some psychopathic traits in my opinion, probably will not be understanding of GSP's condition.... and or not believing that GSP to over-eat to maintain 190 for 185 competition ....but who cares? Dana is Dana....it is what it is....and GSP doesn't need to prove shit to anyone....Dana or Luke Rockhold and or especially the youtube armchair-afcionados ....LOL

Nothing is wrong with Georges. This is all just a ploy so he can drop down for super fights he actually has a chance of winning. Had it been any of the other top contenders other than Bisping Georges would have lost and the UFC and his team know it. So they make up a story so he can drop down now that he pulled off the win and got a belt.
