I can testify to PTB being authentic, I was at an MMA event about 8 years ago and he was bouncing round smiling his head off at everyone he passed. I think he would have been cage warriors champion at the time but I didn’t know who he was, I just thought what a unique individual. I even asked my mate; who’s that lad and he said: that’s Paddy, he’s nuts. 😂

He won't be champion. He's basically a less skilled, less athletic, dumber version of Oliveira. Patty has good BJJ and he can get a knock out if he's lucky but he's just too weak to striking and wrestling to get far. Oliveira would have his way with him, Islam/Gillespie would wrestlefuck him easily, Dustin/Justin/Chanlder/Conor would put him to sleep, Dariush and RDA would beat him one way or another, even the shadow of Tony could likely beat him.

Going to disagree with GSP here. Colby Covington is a prime example of how being unauthentic was the better choice. He was on the verge of being let go from the UFC then made the right decision to go complete heel to stay on the roster despite winning his fights. He’s had to overcome obstacles of navigating through a career of uncertainty through being unauthentic, but overall, it was either that or he would have lost traction in his career. Many people misinterpreted this at the time. He had to lose friends, gain notoriety and burn bridges along the way. However, when your back is against the wall, sometimes you just have to fake it to make it.

Point there is that says more about the industry as a whole and the lamen people's ideology of mma and entertainment more than anything but also speaks on his personae more than anything that you would throw your self respect, image and respect for others out the window just to sell a fight and make money and yes there's always been and always will be a bad guy but some of the stuff colby has said about people personally he has fought to sell fights just goes to far
@whatdanielson
@whatdanielson 2 жыл бұрын
@@markdireen123 Nobody gets to determine what a fighter has to do make a living doing something that it is high risk high reward. There are fighters who are crashing on couches hoping the time they invested will return dividends. You can’t fault them for having to make drastic adjustments to put their livelihood first. This world is entertainment based after all. It’s easier for one person to make an adjustment than to try persuade an entire industry. Either way, Colby has fully committed to his persona. Nobody’s opinion gets to dictate anything that has to do with a man’s paycheck. Otherwise, he would have been continuing to fight for pennies. And for what? For the sake that people will think a certain way about him? Not worth it.

Paddy is a good guy. He's entertaining and down to earth. I like him a lot. Breath of fresh air. However, unless he takes his fighting and conditioning more seriously, he's gonna have a tough go in the UFC. Look at all the beasts in the lightweight division. Most northerners are very genuine and honest and wear their heart on their sleeve, this is a very respectable trait here e.g. Michael Bisping, Darren Till, Tyson Fury, Tom Aspinall. I think his popularity is based on his memeability…..not his skills…..I think he’s incredibly entertaining though and I love the character he brings to the UFC

Charisma can only take you so far. He’s over hyped because of his charm. He’s mediocre. He might get lucky and break top 5 or top 10, but he won’t stay there. No way he can be the champ of any division

No it doesnt. Its just using what you know as psycologial damage. I asuume youre not british but we take the piss out of anything and everyone equally. Yes it might be low brow, classless, juvenille etc but if it works then use it. If you get pissed over a collection of consonants and vowels in a set order then thats on you
