Although I've not rung there I really do think these are some of the best sounding bells out there. Absolutely fantastic boomy back end with crisp, clear, punchy trebles. Fab!

Bow are a lovely sounding peal. I think probably the best sounding 12 in London. They sound great inside and outside when the sound proofing is opened. A special place to me. In 1961 Iwas only 8 and can remember going to Bow to see my dad Ernie Rowe. He and Bill Theobald hung the bells. Up in the belfry there was a wooden temporary enclosure with glass in the doorway. This was for a BBC camera man for the opening of the bell s by Prince Phillip in Dec 61. The tenor had a a chiming hammer on it that was attached to the top of the frame so it could be chimed whilst the bell was raised. This allowed Prince Phillip to chime the bell before they were rung . Apparently according to my Dad the Prince who was a mans man went to a pub with his Minders with a few people, teo of whom were Dad a d Bill Theobald. Prince Phillip reportedly remarked to Dad and Bill Theobald the the bell didnt feel like 2 effing tons. I think this may be true, whilst the old man often embelished stories to entertain people many years later I asked Bill and he told me it is was true. Prince Phillip after all was a naval man and didn't mind speaking like one. Dad and Bill would be gutted by the closure of Whitechapel.

I don't like to be picky, but with Avon in, this isn't spliced surprise maximus, just spliced maximus. For all that, excellent ringing.
