The final day of our 4 day adventure across the Georgia Traverse. After leading a group of overlanders on a exploration of North Georgia, I launched the full documentary video on KZfaq. This video ended up being over 1 hr long. I was asked by many friends, followers, Jeepers and colleagues to go back and break that video up into 4 segments.
• The Georgia Traverse -...
Day 1 video was highlighting the beginning trail head of the Georgia Traverse on the South Carolina / Georgia border. We stopped a the Dillard House for lunch and continued on to Coopers Creek to camp.
• Georgia Traverse Day 1...
Day 2, we began in Coopers creek and headed west near Unicoi State Park right outside of Helen GA and took camp that night in the Chattahoochee National Forest.
• Georgia Traverse Day 2...
Day 3 we kept on exploring through the Chattahoochee National Forest, heading into the Cohutta Wilderness on the South Loop of the Big Frog loop.
• Georgia Traverse Day 3...
Day 4 (THIS VIDEO), we begin in the Cohutta Wilderness at an awesome campground called The Ball Field. We explore the Cohutta a bit and the Big Frog Loop and then we finish up the Georgi Traverse on the Alabama / Georgia border.
If you missed any of the previous days or want to go back and watch the 1hr trip in it's entirety, click the links above. To continue on day 4 with us, you can use the Timestamp below to move throughout the video.
A big thank you to my friend Jeepin Bubba with Black Bear off road for joining us at the Ball Field. He also spent much time pre Georgia Traverse, helping me track out the best places to camp.

Me and a few buddies are doing the GT this weekend. We are also doing a four day trip. The weather looks great! Any advice about road closures or campsites you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!

Man.... you are going to have a great time. its a very easy trek to do but a beautiful scenic one... and yes, the weather is looking GREAT this weekend (some of the best weather this entire month). With regards to closures, I do not know of many other than Trey Mtn (has been closed for a couple of years). Most roads begin closing end of November / December, however you can always check the FS website.. they have a pretty accurate and up-to-date map of closures : Full map view: www.fs.usda.gov/goto/road_status A couple of great camp sites, Lake Conasauga Campground is beautiful. There is a small fee because it is a dispersed campground with some amenity's but it sits secluded on a lake in the Cohutta Wilderness (you may not want to leave). Also, Jacks River Fields in the Cohutta is very nice also but if you are looking for a FREE dispersed camping, Ball Field is perfect. It's large enough for several rigs at once and still have privacy. It is an open field with surrounding trees on the boarder so the wind can get heavy at times. We are doing a 3 day group ride the first weekend of November on the Big Frog Loop around the Cohutta if you guys want to jump on that trip.

Yes, the Hulkman! I’ve used mine a couple of times, and my wife was so impressed (after jumping her car), she insisted I get another one to keep in her car. Thanks for taking the time to share the journey (and for splitting it out into segments). I’ve been wanting to do this and hope to at least get a couple of days in the spring. So you got from the starting point to unicoi in 6 hours, right? Was that without stops? I had also been looking at camping at unicoi on day 1 and just trying to figure out how quickly I could do that part (as it will take me a bit just to get to the starting point). Thanks!

Yes. The Hulkman definitely gets its use. Not just jumping off dead cars but it’s a great little Charger for lots of things. My wife wants one also. We started around 9:30 ish and stopped about 2 hrs in at The Dillard House for lunch (highly recommend). We’ve been talking about doing this ride again this summer. Let me know when you guys are thinking of doing it. Maybe we’ll tag along.

@@RoadRashOffRoad Thx, good to know on the timing (and I'm all about hitting the local eateries, so I'll try to make time for The Dillard House!). We'll probably try and get a day or two of driving in around the middle of March.

Also do you like your refrigerator? If yes what brand and model is it?

The refrigerator "works".... Do I like it? For the price, yes. However it feels cheaply made, sometimes I have to wonder if the lid is closed fully and clasp shut leaving me to double check it often. It works well keeping the goods cold. I need to have a external battery (like a Jackery) to run it when the Jeep is off or it won't stay cold but I think that is a common thing with all refrigerators, not just this one. Granted, it is only a $250 refrigerator on Amazon and not $1000 Dometic. For that reason, I like it and it works until I can replace it with a refrigerator that will become the permanent addition to the rig setup.

@@RoadRashOffRoad I have the Jackery 500 and I’ve been looking at the Iceco brand. The one I want runs around $550…. The reviews on it are pretty good. Just not sure I want to spend that much…
