There has been so many great games this international season and this game is just another example of how rugby is capturing hearts and minds all over the globe . Neither of these teams are in the top ranks, but you wouldn't know that ,watching this game . Of all the games I've watched lately , this and the Womens World cup are my favourites . Thank you both teams , for a fantastic game .

I see comments saying "this puts the debate to bed about Georgia taking Italy’s place in the 6 nations" I don't think anyone should take Italys place, but there need to be another major competition where tier 2 nations can compete with tier 1 nations, excluding the world cup. Maybe something similar to the euros or something. As well it shouldn't put the debate to bed because its pushes georgia to become better to prove them selves, and italy too as we can see today beating Australia. Georgia beat Italy last year, Italy beat Samoa, Samoa beat Georgia, its good to see everyone beating each other.

Italy didn't just beat Samoa. They annihilated them. Georgia put everything into that Italy game over the summer as if it was their world cup final and they only just sealed it at the end. If the game was in Rome next week, it wouldn't be pretty for Georgia.

what makes me angry is the fact that it could been easy to achive. Yes maybe a game against Romania/Portugal/Spain is not an huge challange for a France/Anglo-Saxon/Irish side; also it will generate less money than a game against one of TRC or one of the "pacific 6". But it will mean a lot to those 3 European sides!

No, they have no loyalties to a country that has not raised them. If they want to then fine but you need to respect their decisions to play for their adoptive homelands rather than a country that they have nothing in common with and only share a race with it's people. They are Kiwis through and through because it is a culture and not a race. Samoan has a requisite that you are racially Samoan and is a very specific set of christian religious and familial cultural beliefs that they may not share.

That red card was too strict. It was a fast action, had already lost possession of the ball dropping it forward, and dude was running like a headless chicken. Samoa deserved the win.

I was wondering the same thing!! That is the worst call I have seen in Rugby ever! Insane. The player was on an unobstructed path to the try line - having good opportunity to score. And besides the Georgian player making contact after the ball left his foot - he made no attempt to wrap the player & showed purposeful intent in his movement. Just pushing him - clearly showing he was trying to disrupt the try!!

Samoa wasn’t impressive, but we’ll take the win. Then again, for many on the team, this is their first season and tour playing for Samoa. I hope they become stronger than this and play more games next year before the world cup. Saturday ngt - November 12, 2022.

Good game Samoa even though youre playing against 15 Georgians and three Match Officials. The Redcard wasnt warranted for the purported late tackle on the Georgian centre when he had plain and simply coughed up the ball before the committed defender snapped him in half.....Bad decision Ref. A penalty or a yellow card at worse. The tackler was committed to the tackle...It is too bad that the player had falconed the ball. We need more Objective Referees from the South Pacific region. A Fijian Ref, an American Ref or any NON EUROPEAN Referees. Oh by the RUSSIA WILL BE VERY PLEASED WITH SAMOA....well done Samoa...

We did not see the same action then. The rule is clear enough I think : Contact shoulder or head to head is red card. (And the defender must control himself, that is not the case here). Then if you are not partial you could have also complained about the last knock on... but again, the rule is clear 👌 Anyway I really enjoyed the fierce battle, some nice plays, the tension, the crowd, commentators and the comradeship at the end. Bravo Samoans and Georgians.

Samoa won after being dismantled by resurgent Italy. So Italy is years ahead of Georgia who are stuck in 10 man rugby, Italy play modern rugby today. Anyway in the tier 2 division, Georgia, Samoa,Fiji, Tonga, are almost the same.

Clear penalty try and yellow card early on. It’s no wonder the officials are always being criticized (often undeservedly), but make the easy calls and restore some respect. Why generate controversy when you don’t have to? Even Georgia would not have argued about an obvious brain cramp.

@@RugbyZ, disagree. The attacking player kicked the ball forward and it stayed within the field of play. If he hadn’t been pushed from behind illegally, he would have recovered the ball. The fullback was still approaching, not already there, so even if he made contact the ball carrier would have scored.

I knew people were getting ahead of themselves after Georgia beat Italy at home as if better teams don't lose to weaker ones away on the odd occasion. Italy destroyed this Samoa side last week and just beat an Australian side which held France to a point in Paris. If they were playing Georgia next week, it would be a bigger hammering than the last time Georgia came to Italy.

That was a horribly ref game Georgia doesn't play clean and gets rewarded which keeps them in the game and Samoa gets a red card for a committed tackle.The refs need to be consistent in their calls, the push in the back from Georgia after Samoa kicked should have been a red card because it was intentional. Great hard fought win Samoa just wish the game could be officiated cleaner. Sad
