Around the age of 23/24 I had come to terms with not wanting kids and was slowly starting to tell people when they asked. I can't even tell you how many times I heard "you'll change your mind", "that's not really what you want, is it?", meanwhile I wasn't even married (not that that means anything). By the time I got to my late 20's, still not married but in a long term relationship, it was the questions of "when are you going to get married and have kids? your clock is ticking". Now I'm in my late 30's (no one asks me anymore about kids), I'm married (eloped in Vegas!), have a dog that I love more than my husband and NO kids. I'm happy with the decisions I made! What I was judged for in my 20's is no longer something that I'm judged for in my 30's. It all comes in waves and you just gotta do you :)

I'm 34 and I'm here to tell you it gets better lol, I genuinely don't care what anyone thinks of me and I just do whatever makes me happy - the thing I think is the biggest difference for me is the period stuff, I remember feeling like getting your period stops your life and now I barely notice it, I think the difference is now I'm so much busier that I don't get the chance to stop and think about it so just get on with it. I think that's why your 20s feel so difficult - you're an adult but you still have a lot of time to do the things you want to and if you don't fill your time wisely you can find yourself sitting around overthinking and that's when the mental struggles creep in - at least that's been the case for me. This was a lovely listen :) x

Hey girlies, love this concept and this episode’s conversation topics! Im 25 and a therapist and I talk with clients about this stuff all the time. Being in your 20s is WILD! Honestly such a weird time. It was so interesting hearing you guys talk about being your own boss, I think so many people in your situation feel the way you do. I have lots of clients who have found having a Life Coach has been super helpful, voluntary accountability to someone else! So keen for more episodes! 💕 💕

I’m turning 29 this year and still relate to so much of what you’re talking about 😅 20s has been so weird in terms of friendships. I wasn’t prepared for things like how the dynamic of a close friendship can gradually change in an unhealthy way, or realising that I had been making excuses for people who were continually treating me badly. When I realised just how much of my energy they had been draining, it was relieving to have that energy back. But I also felt guilty bc I felt like a bad person for being happier without my friend in my life. When it comes to kids, the advice my mum gives is “stick to ones you can give back”, and I live by that 😂 Also, with empathy- it’s the ability to understand someone else’s feelings/situation. My understanding is that you don’t necessarily have to start feeling it. So when one of you is talking about a situation and then the other shares a similar or related experience, that’s showing empathy 😊😊

I’m literally about to turn 27 and I’m in the same head space as you guys. I felt like for so long that everyone else had their lives together and were achieving things that I should have been achieving at the same time (kids, getting married) and I came to realise that it just wasn’t my path. Sure I want to maybe do those things one day but in my own time and I always felt being queer limited my choices. Growing up is a learning experience and I feel like I will still be discovering new things about myself in my 50’s as well

Firstly, I loved this, and you both ❤️ Second, as a 35 year old, I can now look back on my 20s and say, "Please don't stress about the big things!" I wasted so much of my time and energy worrying about things instead of just being and enjoying making mistakes. It's all hindsight I guess but, if someone had told me back when I was 24 that I would have a rewarding career, be happily re-married with 2 gorgeous kids and own a house, I'd tell them they're dreaming 😄. Everything will fall into place in time. Just enjoy what you have now ❤️
