Good performance from Thomas. But I still don't get why Ineos chased the breakaway for so long today. That was like a gift to Tadej. Pacing for 60 km just because it's tecnincal seems like such a strange decision.

Go back to the days of James Hunt and Barry Sheene, shirtless in the pits , happy days , properly authentic but yes Big G seems like a decent bloke. Watch those phoney F1 drivers needlessly keep adjusting their caps so you see their silly watches whilst half the world survives on a couple of dollars a day, talk about wrong priorities.

Yeah, the veteran has the right mindset. It's a race and anything can happen and the only thing you can control is to stick with your plan stay upfront and out of danger.

One of the things G has always bee SO good at is limiting losses. He's so smart and experienced. He knows it's better to keep a pace you can maintain rather than go hard to stay on the wheel of an attacker that is putting you in difficulty. That's how you lose seconds instead of minutes. And while it may not have been the case yesterday, there are many times I've seen him come back to the wheel of a rider who had put a pretty big gap on him.

'G' should definitely not retire after next season. To still be one of the 'best of the rest' at 38 is amazing! Puts some of the younger riders to shame. He's a machine.

Kind of thought for a long time that Geraint Thomas was a low-achiever, who had difficulty staying on his bike. In his latter years he has become really impressive, and great to listen to.

G is a great personality and a smart rider, not going over the limit early in a long grand tour. Still, its strange tactics to go for bonus seconds instead of trying to narrow the gap on Pogi. And Ineos pacing all day while there was zero chance Narvaez would keep the Pink. The only way to have a chance this tour is by trying to isolate Pogi by fatiguing his team as early as possible

Geraint was the most 'inactive' rider during the last climb, never the 1st pacing, always let other people work, he even refused to do the hard work on the front - what a contrast to Bora! Thomas was only 'active' before points (taking advantage of Pogacar's crash) or on the final meters when extra seconds are for grasp, suddenly he can work! Some people call this riding smart, I call it 'against the spirit of competition'...
