But, he eventually came around & supported them N EVERYTHING that they wanted 2 do. When they would sing, "The Wind Beneath my Wing's" . Eddie would b almost N tears 🥲. But.... they were happy tears. I was on my way to work at the nursing home where I was a social worker when KPRS 103.3 Historically owned Black radio station announced Gerald LaVert died. There was no time to process it. The tears just rolled down my face. I's the youngest of 4. and played music all the time at home. My sister especially loved the Mighty O'Jays. And Gerald had that robust Man voice just like his Dad. And his songs often gave us a glimpse at his sincere vulnerability.

I got to see Gerald in Biloxi Mississippi and he held my hand and sang this song 🎼 🎶 My My I felt like I was in heaven 💗. I didn't want to turn his hand loose and I looked over to the right side and saw his bodyguard coming my way.. had to let him go 😥
