My current situation me listening to this song woke me up it hurted because I thought i was doing the right thing for our kids by staying. But the abuse is not worth it this song gave me courage to leave and I did I may struggle but I'll be safe and happy because I have no one putting hands on me Thank you Mr. Levert 😍😘

And here we are in 2020 and Domestic Violence is alive and thriving as much if not more than it has ever been. I've spent 10+ years of my life working with battered women; three years as a court advocate and seven at a battered women's shelter. I have heard accounts of abusive that.............................and taken photos for court record that literally hurt to think of let alone imagine the fear of the victim in that time, relationship and space.. No fucking excuse, don't get it twisted that I excuse the behavior, but hurting people hurt people. Fill in the blanks and sometimes those hurt don't know that abuse is not the standard.

Gerald, I played this song today...I tried so hard not to cry because I didn’t want my fresh lashes to come off....I miss your beautiful songs! I didn’t realize you were a Cancer until recently, but it makes sense now as I hear the raw emotion in all of your songs. Cancer is a water sign…all about home, security, roots, love, basically everything you sing about! I play this song a lot, I’m 50 years old, but it reminds me I was the common denominator in all my broken relationships. I deserve better. Thank you for your music reminding ALL of us, we’re lovable! This brutha knew how to lay down some serious lyrics and back it up with his God given talent to jus straight up blow! Young folks don't know bout this here and are lackin' love in their hearts these days. People like Gerald, Luther, Teddy, Marvin, Donnie Hathaway.....the list can go on for days but these types of singers and songs should be taught in the school systems music programs as well as American literature. Too many kids missin' out on REAL respect for the emotion of love!
