I always liked this song, one of my brothers said that it was my song, a few years later I was in the Navy, my most favorite ports were in the Philippines where I met my late wife of 31 years, I Was in the Navy when we got married. In 3 years I'm going back to the Philippines for good & live out my life there as that is where my heart is. When I sing along with the song I say 4 Ports in the Philippines-Manila, Cebu, Legazpi & Masbate.

I loved this song since I was ten, and Geraldine makes this song so real. Being a former U.S. Sailor this song reaches all Seamen. Excellent. And she is beautiful too.

John - You remember the same (original) version I first heard when I was young, by Lolita. It was in a collection my parents brought here from Germany. My dad was US Navy, part of the Rhine River Patrol at Schierstein, when he met my mother, a German national. I'm former Navy too, but I knew at a rather early age that wings were in my future, so I ended up in F-14 squadrons at NAS Miramar in San Diego. Oddly enough, I was one who actually liked being out at sea. Despite the crazy flight ops, and not caring whether it's Saturday or Tuesday, I miss it.

Lovely interpretation of Lolita's immortal song. Well done, but no one can match that melodic alto voice of Lolita's, that special cadence of heartfelt, sincere, down from the innermost self of commitment to a song. Lolita was, well, an original and she's surely missed. Nicely done, Geraldine in her honor, thanks.

The big German windjammers called at Port Victoria, South Australia back in the 1930s and before. Their special music and singing in the evenings wafted across the waters to the most appreciative townspeople. Before my time, but listening to Geraldine I can understand.
