Great review! I agree with pretty much everything. I've had a Dime in my backpack for many years, and it saved the day a few times. Having usable pliers in such a small tool is really great. The package opener is an awesome tool. The tweezers are good, too. I don't need a cap lifter that often, but it works well and it's cool that it's accessable immediately. The scissors are pretty bad. But I never leave the house without a Victorinox with scissors anyway. I don't think I could ever find a task for that tiny file. I managed to bend the big screw driver with a somewhat tighter screw, but it's still usable. The small driver works as well. I don't like the blade at all: it has a strange grind and it's pretty thick behind the edge. Nowhere near as slicey as a 58 mm Vic blade.

I just got a Gerber Dime back in January and I've been loving it! It does quite a lot for a compact tool. Totally agree with you on the file... Kind of pointless. But the rest of the tools are quite good. I generally throw it in my pocket when I go out but I've even started carrying it when I'm just around the house because it takes care of so many little household needs as well. Opening packages, tightening loose screws, and even the pliers have come in handy. As for the scissors... I've carried a Victorinox Classic SD for a very long time so I always have that on me no matter what. Those are always my go to scissors. I think this is really not only a great compact tool for the EDC community but also a great starter tool for others. Not too intimidating but gets a lot of stuff done! Nice review. :)

1) I have a sweet spot for my Dime. Been meaning to find a way to replace the weak scissors, add a real file and remove the knife though. I think some 65mm or 74mm Victorinox scissors might fit, as the 58mm pivot hole is too small for the DIme. I also think the file from any of the Nextool mini multitools might replace the knife. 2) If you remove the knife, this actually makes for a great first multitool for a kid. 3) If this thing had a 1/4 bit adapter instead of the bottle opener, it would be killer.
