Because they only recreate the German one while they just found the British tank and restored the parts that make it move you can tell it’s old cause the gun is about to spin whenever they turn and the paint looks like it was rained on for a hundred years and the dust and well I guess everything

For those who are wondering, the annoying sound is the tank treads. They most likely replaced the metal ones with rubber ones. With metal, it would not have the squeaking sound.

***** Both of these are replicas, in the British case its built on a Japanese crane chassis. In reality both vehicles were a lot dirtier and noisier! Its worth noting though that there are still some original British WWI tanks in running condition, you can`t say that about the German ones!

If anyone is wondering why they're squeaking so much, it's because they're stripped of their original treads. When being used by civilians, they have to be fitted with rubber treads (partially to prevent damage to roads).

Well, usually shot them or crushed them. The squeaking was a secondary weapon designed to complement the noise of the cannons and shock the enemy into a confused retreat.

The A7V is a replica. There is only one A7V left and it is in a museum in Australia. The reason whys theres so few German tanks left is likely them being on the losing side with no government or people willing to preserve an enemy tank.

ive been in the a7v in the video as for a lot of years it was at a local museum. it had the engine off a '40s fordson tractor and tracks and sprockets off a jcb earthmover. it was pretty damn noisy too I seem to rember!!

I saw a real one of the British made tanks, only American that was used during WW1, on a US army base I was at. I forget which base. I don't think the tank was operational though, it was static and outside on a concert platform. That was my first introduction that there were tanks in WW1. I had never seen one before, which was a long time ago.

The only original A7V in existence is located at the Australian War Memorial. Australian soldiers captured the tank in WWI and brought it home with them. The tank is named "Mephisto".
