Lord Dim 1 She had a pretty good service career, her fate is quite unfortunate. Now thinking about it, the second Scharnhorst (Scharnhorst class battleship) also had an accomplishing career.

@@leonii3314 The march is also still played here today. There is nothing wrong with the march when the Navy greets their hometown "Kiel". Kiel has been a naval base since the imperial era and is still today.

@@Gencrossbones True... but If you can go to Kiel and dig up a specific place near a dock/drydock then you can find the KMS Admiral Scheer in her earthly grave. While I know that Admiral Scheer is a ship from the Kriegsmarine and not from the Kaiserliche Marine It would be great to restore the beauty and put her back on the water as a museum ship just like HMS Belfast and IJN Mikasa.

@@felipesubiabre314 While no side won, there were two losers: in the short term, the Germans lost. In the short AND longterm, the British lost. Jutland was the beginning of the end for the Royal Navy. Now they've been ground to dust.

Apologies for pedantism, but basically it's "Gruss an Kiel" (Hail from Kiel), not Gruz. Gruz is polish term for salvage created during destruction of building.

The Germany not "allowed to build ships" point of view of many historians is flawed. People, *any* people, independent of where they live, are affected by the events of the recent and relevant past (note, not the future, which they don't know about of course). *So why did the German taxpayer support the construction of a large German Navy?* Easy answer: past events. Kagoshima, Sebastopol (Krim War), Savannah, the Opium Wars, and hundreds of other "targets" ravaged by *naval bombardment* and wars as a result of squabbling over spheres of influence. That is what influenced public opinion at the time (1880s and 1890s), and why a nation of taxpayers would gladly support the construction of a navy.
