The F1 Circus takes its yearly camping trip in the dense woods of western Germany and the legendary trail they called the Nürburgring. Famously a driver's course, the 66 edition of the classic would be the ultimate challenge for the new and heavier machinery. If there ever was a circuit where the driver could make the most impact, it would be the Nordschleife. 174 corners, 14.1 miles, throw in a little rain and it will truly be the Ringmeister who comes out on top!

I was there at the Nordschleife as a seven year old when news came in about Rindt's crash at Monza, listening to the radio in my grandpa's Autobianchi sedan. All the adults were watching the track for the 36Hour race or whatever it was. The news I relayed was a bit of a shocker to the older crowd in 1970. The orange / yellow Ickenroth BMW 1602 was running first in class and managed to get out in front of a few P 911's holding onto 2nd overall until it retired an hour before the finish. I still ride fast at times and take chances. Racing GPL at your level looks pretty good. Steven Groves would approve. Good Memories...

This is - by far - my favourite Sim-Racing-Channel. The voice, the driving, the entertainment, the history lessons - I enjoy your passion so much. And as Race63 wrote - it is contagious, because you really got me invested into the history of motorsport, so that I'm not only started to recreate historic races on my own channel, but also use the time when not driving by reading every literature I can get my hands on. Thanks for being an persistent inspiration and all your amazing work here on YT!

This was the race that John Frankenheimer filmed a bunch of for his film Grand Prix, only to be forced to turn all that footage over due to a contract conflict with Steve McQueen's rival F1 film (which never ended up being made).

huh, i always wondered why they completely glossed over the German Grand Prix in the movie. With the Nurnbergring being one of the most iconic tracks of all time it didn't make a lot of sense that they would shelf it completely.

GP Legends was ahead of its time. This was an amazing simulation long before decent wheels were out. I remember racing in a lotus cortina and the sounds through my Cambridge audio 5.1 speakers and bass… Now we are spoilt. But thanks to this and Geoff Crammond we have sims with a past. As a side note, I remember playing this with a friend and going round the Nurburgring-seeing him shoot off at a chicane , launch into the air and disappear. Only for me to round the corner and find him upside down on the track in front of me. I seriously was in tears of laughter. Brilliant driving and thanks for the nostalgia

Haha thank you! I appreciate the kind compliment, most of the time pronunciation just receives criticism and its silent when its 'good'. Its tough to pronounce things and make it sound authentic without it sounding like an impersonation or silly I studied some German in college and lived in Austria for 8 months, so German is a bit easier for me than others, but im sure i still have a heavy accent

A very stressful famous historic track that has plenty of landscape beauty. Those "classic F-1 auto racing days" had, in my opinion, had many of the best drivers who had nerves of steel to drive with the styles of cars that were literally my favorite cars. Jim Clark...my all-time # 1 favorite of all race drivers for 60 years (being this is 2023 and, I really became a fan of open-wheel auto racing in 1963 via the Indy 500 when I was nearing 13 years old). Great program with plenty of historic insights on those great years of F-1.

I learned the Nurburgring, and the names of some of the corners (half of which I've forgotten), from GT5. It's cool to see the old version. It took a couple of laps to recognize parts of it, with the changed landscape, but I got locked in eventually. And it was cool to see the carousel with the tree still there and all by itself. What Jackie always said makes more sense now. Sadly, while I was born in 1965, it wasn't until GT5 in 2010 that I even learned of the Green Hell's existence. It's been love ever since. Good race. Didn't think I'd watch all of it, but it was worth it.
