Boxer is a truly modular vehicle providing multiple functions for its users, several communication interfaces for participation in network-enabled warfare and diverse mission relevant capabilities. The flexibility of its modularity allows Boxer to be easily adapted to meet mission requirements, in rapidly changing circumstances and global environments. Boxer has impressive integral growth potential so that future emerging military roles and changing requirements can be met, without degrading the vehicle’s capabilities such as mobility. In this video, we are going to take a closer look at the Rheinmetall Boxer along with its many variants.

@@Helmovic If anything Germany is probably THE country I would trust the most to have a very powerful army and not let their army destroy Europe and drag the whole world into a world war because of their imperialistic delusions. German collective consciousness would simply not let that happen, it's something that is being taken very seriously and hammered into the heads of people starting when they're children. But they have lived with the shame of their past for too long now, it's not fair to keep judging them for the actions of a dictator that died in the mid 1940s. The world knows they're not Nazis anymore, they don't need to prove it anymore. The German people should be able to feel proud and happy about their military force, just as many other people feel about their own countries military force. I don't think you can find any nation that has learned more about how horrific and traumatic being the imperialistic aggressor is and actually implemented that into their culture. I think realistically we have a bigger risk of the next Hitler spawning out of the corrupt depths of USA, than in Germany if I'm going to be completely honest. On one hand it's sad that all these resources are now being diverted towards the military instead of education, healthcare and welfare. But on the other hand you also have to be realistic, and the world has now become a different place and Europe needs to be able to protect themselves without relying so much on USA. Also Russia has turned into a complete mess of a warmongering nation led by a tyrannical dictator so it would be insane not to feel the need to protect oneself. I feel especially bad for the poor countries in the world, cause they will be hit by far the hardest (except for Ukraine, and maybe even Russia) by this horrible conflict, the sanctions and also the subsequent heavily increased military spending is gonna spread like ripples in the sea. This is a very tragic year, I'm just afraid it will get way worse before it gets any better.

As a german i know the might of Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei-Wegman as lobbyists, and i do not wonder the slightest why this video does not need to have a seperate sponsor message. By the way, do not repeat information in 60 second cycles if you try not to sound like the companies own advertisement. Like the fact the mission module can be changen in an hour under field conditions, which you repeated twice under two minutes around 3:40. Another thing, changing parts is a thing german armored vehicles have normalized for almost fifty years. The first iteration of the Leopard II tank could have his enginge switched in the field in under two hours. That is not a special feature it is a *required* minimum to be competetive in the ranks of german armored vehicles.

Yeah, I saw one that same year as well. They had been promising the ambulance version for so long I stopped believing it would ever be introduced, same with the CV90. Then in '09 when we were doing simulation medical training as prep for deployment, there was a Boxer to train with. I left the army in '11 and to my knowledge at that point there were no Boxers delivered to any of the combat units yet, that year there were also massive budget cuts in defense spending and I stopped believing it would be introduced al together, they did come through on the new rifle issues for my unit, which surprised me because it was clear with that budget cuts that the unit would be disbanded. This year a similar unit has been raised again, with the same capabilities/gear.. so go figure. The politics around defense have been messy to the point of being moronic, hampering the attempts at modernization. I am glad the army got their new gear and capabilities, my hope is that the politicians will wise up to the current geopolitical situation, their inaction and downright counterproductive policies could end up getting a lot of good upstanding people killed and maimed if they don't, they might already be too late.

@@blixerie9317 you CAN survive as a soldier sitting in the rear when you push the emergency button so the ramp falls down. As a driver you have to wait until everybody is outside, in other words: you’ll burn to death. There is actually an emergency exit above the drivers seat, but you have to turn it up by hand and that takes you more than 5min, more like 8. They might’ve changed that as I drove an early version Boxer.

Really one of the best mility vehicle actual in this time. Like a Cameleon... With such great conversion possibilities from the command vehicle, personnel carrier to infantry fighting vehicle and light battle tank with 120mm. It can even be used as 155mm artillery. Am extremely impressed. The vehicle can take on so many roles and be quickly modified in a modular way that a basic vehicle can be quickly adapted with the appropriate modules. From a personnel carrier to a light battle tank within hours. Only the module is changed and the BOXER already fulfills a different role.

it looks as though it will have a good fording depth but if it could be adapted to be able to swim (not fully amphib) it would add a even greater layer of functionality. i understand the need for a multifuel diesel powerplant but in the future this may become a hindrance i cannot wait for someone to finally design a integral hub drive system which would increase modularity and reduce reliance on fossil fuels (a turbine generator would be able to run on a broad spectrum of fuel and in theory be much more efficient).

Certainly a great vehicle, especially the easy interchangeability of the most maintenance-requiring chassis and motor module allows higher rates of use. Wheeled vehicles are also generally easier to maintain and have better fuel economy and lower heat and noise emissions than tracked vehicles. Size and weight must also be considered in relation to the protection that this armour provides to the crew. Another disadvantage (besides size and weight), however, is the high centre of gravity, which will inevitably lead to frequent overturning or bogging down of the vehicle in poor ground conditions, but especially when "driving in panic mode". Therefore, this vehicle is less or not at all suitable as the (only) centre of gravity weapon, especially for smaller armies. In an army like the Bundeswehr, which has an enviable diversity and high degree of mechanisation, this does not matter so much; they will always be able to put together a mix of weapons that will compensate for this shortcoming in terms of mobility. But in areas/countries with predominantly wet and muddy, i.e. poor ground conditions, this vehicle is not suitable, especially if it is to be used offensively or even aggressively, because it is also the only one available. It remains a good infantry vehicle when it is part of a complex "rich" army. "Smaller armies" should use other means to protect their country.

First Tests with 8-Wheelers started already in 1934 and the "Sonder-Kfz 231, 232 and 263" among others as "Heavy Recon Version" was already in action by 1939 and in uninterrupted use by german troops throughout the entire WW2...on all fronts. Further Models were developped throughout the war including a version with a 7.5cm Assault-Gun cannon. A slightly smaller and lighter 6-wheeler version followed the 8-wheeler, which was originally based on a 10-wheeler design from 1932. 6- and 8-wheelers were built in large numbers during WW2 and the designs have been taken over by many armies over the past decades. So, in a nutshell : Don't worry. The thing will do what it's designed for.
