Have you done a tutorial about how to do German short rows in ribbing?

Can you explain how to do this with a pattern that calls for just short rows

Would you have an example of the type of pattern you mean? The method should remain the same really, even if the context differs. E.g. German Short Rows are recommended for the Rhinebeck Hat by Woolly Wormhead, but they are used for a very different reason (part decorative and part for shaping the crown of the hat)

I had a gap on each side when I tried this! How can I avoid the gap?

the gap there means that you need to look at the way you are resolving the double stitch. (it is hard to tell without being able to see your work, so I hope this helps!)
