once the round is ready on the table, you roll it into the back with the pull handle as you showed. they then closed the shutter and cranked the other handle to lift the shell up to the gun pit above. the reason that there is more than one shell lift per gun position is because of the time it takes to put a shell together compared to how fast the gun could be fired. I am sure in your next video, you will show where the shells came up in the sides of the gun pit.

When we read about this time in the history books, it seemed very distant and from another world. Watching your video makes it seem eerily real and recent. Unbelievable finds! Armored doors and fittings to this extent STILL IN SITU is virtually impossible to find. The scrapmen and souvenir hunters were normally very thorough after the war. Thanks to you and sidekick Eagle Eyes for sharing this incredible emplacement with us!

In Denmark at the vestcoast there a gun installation on the Hill over the city Hanstholm- during the ww2 the germans build a 4 turreted bunker complex with the 38mm gun coming from krupp- one of bunkers is made to house a museum - the Hanstholm area is filled with bunkers , around 300 installations lays scattered in the area , come visit it its great

I really enjoyed this part 2 of the gun placement. Seeing the hoists and the racks where the huge rounds were placed before going further. Fascinating to see that the parts still work and so interesting to learn that it was part of safety precautions. The massive room with all the thick cables speaks of the complexity and detail of the location. Greats find in the 1943 bottle bottom. Thanks for sharing this exciting location, can't wait for part 3 because I suspect something very interesting to do with ..... not going to spoil your surprise! I also have a huge smile, thanks for taking us right into places used over 70 years ago. Happy for you and Eagle Eyes that you could experience it. Kind regards to all.

@@WW2HistoryHunter You're very welcome, oh my wife and daughter had covid, quarrintined for a week, I never caught it, orange juice, daily 10 Oz glass 2 oranges every other day, 1 motrine daily, doc said my lungs are perfect, told her about that banana honey mix in hot water. I even smoke the WW2 Camels non filters, children's motrin for eagle eyes. Be safe yall

For the same reason that 99% of all ETO brought home Mauser trophies had their dirty birds belted or chiseled off . The folks that paid a very HIGH PRICE to combat and ultimately defeat The Reich did not view these symbols as serving a higher purpose of historic value . They saw death and destruction in these symbols , they saw and felt memories of their basic training big six watcher get hit and get hit bad , this war was nasty , it was extreme cruelty , therefore , NO quarter was given to the enemy , much less their symbols adorned by fanatical resistance . This is why that was done way back then .

They wrote the history to best suit their own narratives. The specific word for it escapes me, but even in archeological sites throughout history it has been common after major conflicts for the victors to attempt to deface and remove any evidence of their hated enemies. It IS unfortunate, but the concept of conserving ALL history regardless of your affiliation with it is a relatively new concept for humanity.

Maybe you don't know: At 16:20: The blue symbol on the left is a powder load in a cardboard tube. Covered with fabric. The summons. (German: Vorladung) The "semicircle" on the left of the sign is the place for the salt deposit (German: Salzvorlage), which should darken the muzzle flash at night. The yellow / gold on the right is the brass case. The main charge with detonator (German: Hauptladung). These were later refilled.

This is an incredibly well-preserved site considering it is over 75 years since there was any maintenance of the equipment and it is near the ocean and salt air which accelerates corrosion of metal. While it would be interesting if the propaganda murals had not been painted over, I can understand that people who lived in a country occupied by the Nazis wanted to remove them considering what they experienced under occupation. Thanks for a fantastic history lesson !

What a great suprise to get the notification for part 2 of this amazing place, I didn't expect it so soon. It's so unique to see so many features still intact, it's just a shame the wall paintings were covered over, hopefully it's just a kind of whitewash & it can be removed easily. Great part 2 my friend. As I said this would be a great restoration project also a lifetimes worth. If i remember some documents, there is a mechanical interlock on the shutter system that keeps you from turning the handle. Other wise if the track ways are still greased then it would more then likely still work. Noticed that like the panzers the grease fittings on the equipment was also painted red. I was in ammo and explosives in the Army so this is amazing to get to see this. Very kool. But sad at the same time to think that after all the wars we still can't seem to learn to live in peace. Hopefully one day before it's too late we as a human race will learn to live together in peace and learn and share our knowlege of good discoveries with each other. Thank you so much !

Wow, it's like a time capsule in there! It's amazing how well preserved everything is in that bunker! I will agree that it is a shame that the eagle and writing on the walls has been covered up, but I guess I can understand why someone would cover it up. This place should be given landmark status as one of the last remaining German WWII bunkers on the Atlantic wall that is in such good condition! As always, keep up the good work, and continue showing us your explorations! I can't wait for the next video of this location!

Wow!!Absolutely blown away by this episode,German mechanism,s were certainly built to last.Heating, hot water,sanitation,the personnel lived in relative comfort compared to the local population.Eagle Eyes must have been excited to see the Eagle murals on the walls.Once again thank you so much for bringing history to life.

Why ist everyone so hung up on this? It's a symbol of hate, why not accept that distance to this time was and is not possible and most Germans nowadays are so disgusted of this dreadful past that spreading this symbol of hate in any way is worse than censoring it. I as a German and every person I know hate this symbol.

Hi. History Hunter and Eagle Eyes, at 4:20, I believe you are looking at a fuse panel box, and a few seconds later, I thought I saw a few of the fuses down in the trough. {Edit} at 8:15 this appears to be a powder hoist room, where the powder is held in canisters and then loaded through the trap to the gun area and the next room is for the projectiles themselves. The gun being served here is like the main guns on a battleship, which use projectiles with separate powder canisters, but no cartridge case as it would make it too large and heavy for safe handling. The distance the individual rounds would be capable of was determined by the number of powder canisters used, similar to the way the range of a mortar round was determined by the number of powder bags left on the mortar shell. Absolutely fascinating place. To see the Loading Table mechanism working after all that time, and still with grease on the cog track. Amazing. The 1st and 4th rooms are for handling the bagged powder charge and shell case, with the paintings reminding the loading crew which way round they go on the table. The 2nd and 3rd rooms are for the shells, and their paintings show not only which way around, but the tip colour indicates the type of shell (high explosive or armour piercing). Such an amazing place with so much History. Cannot wait for the next video! Cheers to you all!
