@@parsnipguy2986 For the reasons I have mentioned above I think it is a good job the veteran didn't see it! If I had been through this experience and shared it in an interview, I would have been really offended that his narrative had been handled so flippantly and lent (no, stolen) for the use of comedy.

I was out fishing with my peepaw and he pulled the exact same mirror trick on a bear that snuck up on us. But when he dropped his hat he was torn asunder, like a newspaper through a shredder. It seems even humans are not immune to taking advantage of such brazen displays of weakness. War truly turns people into animals.

@@LikeAFoxStudios Why would you even want to do this? These experiences traumatized a whole generation of men for the rest of their lives. Many were not able to talk about the war until their much later years if at all, and were driven to alcoholism and were unable to have proper relationships with their own offspring because they could not be reached. My grandfather was one of them and my mother never really knew him as a father, nor I as a grandfather, but he came from the war with a hole in his back which you could put your fist in, hating Germans and ALL things military. This poor chap being interviewed could be the German version of my own grandfather.

@@dianehewston9700 I'm sorry about your grandfather. Look I'm not gonna sit here and try to justify why I thought this concept was funny and absurd. If you don't like it or think its distasteful, nothing I say can really change your mind. I do want to say thought that I don't think the joke of this sketch is coming from any place of disrespect or mockery. War is brutal, and for that reason it's perhaps the most unexpected place to find a marx brothers type physical comedy routine. That to me is the joke, and while yo u may disagree, I think people should be capable of making jokes about tragic and morbid topics like war and death. The absurdity of comedy highlights the absurdity of war, this awful thing that we all live in the shadow of and try to make sense of.
@dianehewston9700
@dianehewston9700 10 ай бұрын
@@LikeAFoxStudios I get what you are saying about comedy and war in general. That is not my beef. There is NO possibility of making sense of war because it goes beyond sense. That it continues to happen and the terrible things that happen in it and in the souls of men is something that even those who go through these terrible nightmare scenarios cannot fathom ever after. My problem with this piece you have put together is that it has seized upon the personal experience, a very harrowing episode of this man which forever lived in his conscience, something which he admitted he felt shame, sorrow, horror and guilt and virtually ad verbatim 'comically' retold his testimony in a way which has subjected it to ridicule and humour. Where will the train not go next, Bergen Belsen, Dachau? At what point do we reach a subject that is considered tasteless??
@LikeAFoxStudios
