the bottles and crates of beer you bring back to the store aren't actually recycled like those plastic bottles (Einwegflasche). These (Mehrwegflasche) are gonna get sent back to the brewery, cleaned, checked and then re-used. so it's not really the recycling of material but even more efficient by just using the whole thing again - in case you didn't know ;) plus: I finally have to say that Schwäbisch Hall definently looks far more beautiful and has better "vibes" than Marburg - sorry Silas and Conner. These drone shots finally convinced me. Have a good one :)

and that's why i never mentioned the american system in any words. ;) it's just that recycling is often used in terms mentioned above (as taking material back into processing new products) and not as simple re-using items. and to not mistake these two things i pointed out that the re-use of bottles is EVEN MORE EFFICIENT than the typical recycling. no doubts in america they wouldn't bother to do any of those.

Zac Saleski Reading these comments about returning empty bottles and cans made me remember that it used to be that way in the USA, for bottles at least. I think it changed, because American companies discovered there is more profit in tossing the bottles and cans away. Plus, America has, or has easy access to, a lot more natural resources than Germany, which is comparatively resource poor.

How to recognize an American in a restaurant: Fork in the left hand, knife in the right hand to cut. Then the fork is switched to the right hand and most often the knife is put down to eat! Cracks me up every time! :)

Believe it or not, that's actually still considered the "proper" way. And people all over Europe ate like this as well, although that slowly changed about a hundred years ago. I have to admit I kind of like how anachronisms move to a different environment and are there to stay, while they disappear at their point of origin. And yes, I personally don't see the point in constantly switching around silverware, either. I find it extremely interesting with languages, too, think about the Portuguese snatching parts of South America hundreds of years ago. Eventually you had a new country not connected to the homeland any longer speaking the old variety of Portuguese that isn't in use anymore where it came from. Ah, I could go on for hours. 😁

As a half american and half german I can confirm that. But usually they only use a fork to "cut" through their food :D it's really annoying beacause the whole table is shaking like crazy.

I had the crazy idea that I could be so lucky to catch a Unicorn evening practice to tell you that your videos and your spice for life are great fun to watch! Me and my family ate lunch at Bergl Hall today (5/29) in Schwabisch Hall and then tried to find Optima Sportpark. Two major problems were I don't have a data plan for Germany and my rental car gps did not recognize the stadium name! Major bummer! Anyway, keep up the good work and I will continue to subscribe. Someone told me once, that I seem younger because of my behaviour (I was in my early 40s, back in those days) and asked him "That means I'm childish or just stupid?" His respons was like, that lots of people think, they have to act in a special way, depending on their age, and it would be great if someone does not do so and just acts like he is. My comment to that: "So: just stupid." ;)

Recycling There is Pfand (pawn) of i think 0,25€ on most bottles and (drinking) cans. Depending on the beer (whatever you drink, also non alcoholic stuff) this can be more than half the price of a new one without the pawn. Sometimes it`s even more than you pay for the fluid itself. When you are on public festivities there is usually more pawn on glasses, mugs and cutlery. This reduces the plastic trash to a big extend because normal dishes, cutlery and glasses are used. I hate the plastic stuff, even when i buy stuff in the supermarket and reduce it to an absolut minimum.

You infants wouldn't know this, but in the US thru the 1960's (before aluminum cans) EVERY grocery store, convenience store, and anyplace else that sold soft drinks took back the glass empties and returned them to the bottlers to refill. The bottle deposit was included in the price and was refunded when you returned the bottles. Coke machines had wire bottle racks mounted on the side and you were expected to leave 5 cents if you were not going to return the bottle.

There are ten states in the United States with container deposit legislation, popularly called "bottle bills" after the Oregon Bottle Bill, the first such legislation that was passed. Studies also show that the recycling rate for beverage containers is vastly increased with a bottle bill. The United States' overall beverage container recycling rate is approximately 33%, while states with container deposit laws have a 70% average rate of beverage container recycling. Michigan's recycling rate of 97% from 1990 to 2008 was the highest in the nation, as is its $0.10 deposit. So Not Zero percent Cody!! Lol

His German subscribers eat his BS up because 90% of the time he bags on how bad Americans are. And no self respecting German admits to liking Americans/America. Sorry for the rant you didn't ask to hear. I must be in the pms zone for sure 😂😂😂

@@marymcinaney7242 He knows 26 is young...it is a joke. You even said that yourself... There is no "old enough" to make a joke. I can't and don't want to disagree with everything you said. But why you go crazy about a simple joke doesn't really make sense.

6:26 I mean, if your case of beer is empty you have to go to the store or brewery and buy a new one anyways, so you just bring the empty one with you. What´s the big deal?

Probably with Cody? Anyway, it looked more like they were preparing for a food porn, which isn't a bad alternative.

Most glass bottles you bring back are not recycled but cleaned and refilled.

My hubs and I are from Germany but live in the UK and hate the non-existent recycling situation here. There's so much rubbish and plastic, it honestly drives us insane. I wish they would start selling beverages in bottles with a recycling system.. It's so outdated and simply bad for environment.
