Baden-Baden is a hot spring resort to Europeans. The water quality is good and there is a casino, so many people go to play. It is a very historical place.
But it means something completely different to Koreans. Most Koreans don't know Baden-Baden, but almost Koreans know Baden-Baden. It is here that the IOC President Samaranch shouted "Seoul". It is the moment the venue for the 1988 Summer Olympics was announced.
Perhaps that's why the weather in Baden-Baden was really changeable. It was sunny, then rainy, then hail, then stormed, and then the sun was bright again. It was like Korean history.

바덴바덴, 역사의 메아리
유럽사람들은 바덴바덴을 온천 휴양지로 꼽을 겁니다. 수질도 좋고 카지노도 있어서 많은 사람이 놀러오죠. 꽤 역사 깊은 곳입니다.
그렇지만 한국인에게는 전혀 다른 의미일 겁니다. 대부분의 한국인이 바덴바덴을 모르지만, 거의 모든 한국인이 바덴바덴을 알고 있을 걸요. 사마란치 IOC 위원장이 “쎄울”을 외친 곳이 바로 이곳입니다. 1988년 하계올림픽 개최지를 발표하는 순간이었죠.
그래서 그런지 바덴바덴의 날씨는 정말로 변화무쌍했습니다. 맑았다가 비가 왔다가 우박이 내렸다가 폭풍우가 휘몰아쳤다가 다시 해가 쨍쨍 났습니다. 한국의 역사 같았습니다.
