Among the most vocal objectors to the Treaty of Versailles, Adolf Hitler saw WWI and the Treaty as the apex of the most dangerous do-or-die crisis in more than half a millennium. Join us on the centennial of Hitler’s 1923 Versailles speech for a lecture with Professor Thomas Weber (professor of history and international affairs at the University of Aberdeen and visiting fellow of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University) as he explores how Hitler identified Jews as the originators of the post-war crisis, and in the process turned toward genocidal antisemitism. Based on new research published in mid-April.
Hosted in partnership with Hoover Institution Library & Archives at Stanford University.

To museum director: It is natural that you had an explosion in lectures and events during the centennial years from 2014-2018. I appreciate that since then you are keeping up the further looks at the war at a consistent, slower pace. It would be understandable to cease the lectures by saying, “We have covered it all” because you have, in a sense. But it’s equally true that an event of this magnitude always has more to reveal both directly and in its echoes. Thank you for your continued dedication to in-depth content related to The Great War. Also, I’ve been to the museum for two full days and I strongly recommend it to anyone with an interest in the war. It is phenomenal. Don’t change a thing.
