On this day in 1936, the German people voted overwhelmingly to reoccupy the demilitarized Rhineland zone. Here is a British Movietone report showing German troops marching into the Rhineland.
Hitler and others walk into large building with wreath. Elevated shots of assembly. Shots of Hitler leaving building and standing on steps. German troops goose stepping and holding banners. German sailors marchpast with rifles. Marchpast and the salute being taken. Elevated shots in theatre. Shots in the streets and people cheering madly. HItler stands on balcony and salutes. Goering next to Hitler with Hess and Goebbels. People in the streets "Heiling". Hitler rides away in car. Hitler walks down ranks of troops. Train moving with kit loaded. Horses led from train by troops. Military supplies on teh move. Military supplies across Cologne bridge. Two German sentries stand to attention on bridge. Large guns on the move. Troops through cheering crowds in Cologne.

Why the blessing? You know that the Nazi especially the SS rejected Christianity as a jewish religion. Himmler himself was drawn to Neo Paganism and dreamed of restoring old Germanic heathen believes (nothing wrong about the old Germanic Gods though). Hitler served as a savior figure. Every prayer in school was for god and the Führer. They tried to rewrite the bible, got rid of the old testimony (no more ark, no Adam and Eve, Exodus or eye for an eye). Jesus was depicted as a military-like Aryan hero who fought Jews while sounding like a Nazi. Doesn‘t sound for me that those people deserve a Christian blessing, don‘t you think!?
